We are currently looking to recruit a Toolmaker for our leading precision metal stamping and pressing component manufacturer based in Kingswinford (DY6 8XG).
WORKING HOURS:
Twilight Shift Monday - Thursday 14:45pm - 23:15pm
Friday 12:30pm - 18:30pm
JOB PURPOSE:
*To be responsible for maintaining the tools to support production areas and NPI projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Adhere to Health & Safety requirements at all times
*Support the development of new tools and modify existing tooling by following engineering drawings to measure and mark out design
*Fit, trial, debug and modify new tooling and set and complete try outs in the presses.
*Monitor the tools used on the manufacturing line to ensure efficient run rates and identify necessary repairs or improvements
*Maintain and strip, inspect, repair and rebuild tools for existing customers.
*Liaise with setters to ensure tooling is repaired and back in service in a timely and efficient manner.
*Attend machine breakdowns to identify root cause and solve the problem
*Use hand tools (files, hacksaws and grinders) and machinery (lathes, presses, milling machines and grinders)
*Use 2D and 3D CAD and manufacturing software
*Use precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, gauges and Vernier calipers to check tooling dimensions *Be responsible for routine maintenance for all press tooling (20-300 ton power press tools, both progression & second operations)
*Be responsible for jig & gauge making.
*Compile reports as required
*Be involved in productivity improvement initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Minimum:
*Mechanical engineering apprenticeship. (City & Guilds / BTec / NVQ).
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:(Experienced Toolmaker only)
*Served in domestic or contract shops
*Experience of multi stage progression tools (essential)
*Experienced in all formats of machining (milling, turning, drilling & surface grinding)
*Experience in CNC and EDM machining with knowledge of Visi CAD software

The Tool Maker (Tool Technician) will play a critical role in supporting aerospace manufacturing and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) operations by ensuring the availability, accuracy, and reliability of all tooling, jigs, and fixtures. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manufacture, service, and repair a wide range of tools, jigs, and fixtures to support both new product development and existing aerospace production.

- Work from detailed technical drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions to produce high-precision components.
