An opportunity has arisen within the busy Surgical Day Case department at Queens Hospital Burton. The unit provides an elective day care service for a variety of surgery including Ophthalmic, General, Orthopaedic, Vascular, Dermatology, ENT, Urology, Breast and Gynaecology. In addition, a flexible cystoscopy service and rheumatology clinics are supported.
This is a forward thinking unit with excellent nursing representation and is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to provide leadership, management and co-ordinate a team of enthusiastic, highly skilled nursing individuals. The successful candidate will need to lead the ward by example whilst dealing quickly and efficiently with any issues that arise. The right candidate will provide direction to the current focus on maximising patient throughput, efficiency and patient care delivery whilst moving the unit forward into the future.
Expert knowledge of Day Case Surgery is an essential, alongside understanding the current NHS focus on productivity whilst maintaining excellent patient care. The ideal candidate should have experience in a day case setting as a Band 6.
Responsibilities- Overall management of the nursing team within the department including absence, performance management and dealing with any HR issues
- Budget management

- Provide Surgical Day Case expertise
- Networking across UHDB to other Surgical Day Case Units, sharing best practice, policys and practices

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Orthoptist to join our team as an Operational Lead Orthoptist. The successful candidate will provide clinical and operational leadership of our teams at our Burton sites. Working with colleagues on orthoptics and the wider ophthalmology specialty the role will require coordinating, leading and driving our service forward to meet the future needs of our local population.

Responsibilities- Undertaking highly skilled clinical duties and direct patient care as an experienced orthoptist
- Providing professional support and guidance to clinical staff to deal with all areas of orthoptic provision, including complex care

Reporting into the Mechanical Estates Operations Manager the post-holder is responsible for providing leadership to the operational mechanical engineering team, the development of standardised practices and processes within their area of responsibility (trade group) and to support the delivery of modern maintenance services meeting compliant standards within a customer care focused environment. The post-holder will provide specialist leadership, advice and support on mechanical plant within the Trust.
Responsibilities- Assist the Estates Operations Manager in ensuring a cost-effective and efficient engineering maintenance service is provided.
- Deputise for the Estates Operations Manager in times of absence.
- Provide site technical knowledge to engineering project engineers/consultants.
- Participate in the Trust on-call rota for out-of-hours estate management.
- Requirement for cross site working when required.
- Experience leading an operational mechanical engineering team and developing standardised practices and processes.
- Specialist leadership, advice and support on mechanical plant within a healthcare Trust or similar complex environment.
- Ability to work across sites and participate in an on-call rota; willing to travel as required.
