**What You'll Do**
**Design & Development (60%)**
+ Take ownership of exhibition design projects from initial concept to final execution, ensuring creativity, originality, and attention to detail.

**Required Skills & Experience - our ideal candidate will have**

Our client, a prestigious arts and entertainment institution, is looking for an innovative Lead Exhibition Designer to join their creative team in **Cardiff, Wales, UK**. This role is based in the heart of Cardiff and offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining essential on-site design collaboration with the flexibility to work remotely. The Lead Exhibition Designer will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and overseeing the implementation of engaging and memorable exhibitions across various art forms and cultural themes. You will translate curatorial visions into immersive physical and digital experiences, ensuring artistic integrity, audience engagement, and accessibility. Key responsibilities include developing design concepts, creating detailed plans and renderings, selecting materials, managing budgets for design elements, and coordinating with fabricators, artists, and technical teams. The ideal candidate will possess a strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of exhibition design projects, demonstrating creativity, technical proficiency, and a deep understanding of spatial design, lighting, and multimedia integration. Excellent project management skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, and a passion for arts and culture are essential. Experience with 3D modeling software, AutoCAD, and graphic design tools is required. A relevant degree in Design, Architecture, Fine Arts, or a related field, coupled with substantial experience in exhibition design or museum display, is necessary. This is a unique opportunity to shape cultural narratives and create impactful visitor experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conceptualize and design engaging and innovative exhibitions from initial brief to final installation.
  • Develop detailed design proposals, including sketches, 3D models, and technical drawings.
  • Select appropriate materials, finishes, and lighting solutions to enhance the exhibition narrative.
  • Collaborate closely with curators, artists, fabricators, and technical staff throughout the design and production process.
  • Manage exhibition design budgets and ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Oversee the fabrication and installation of exhibition elements.
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards and health and safety regulations.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in exhibition design, museum practices, and immersive technologies.
  • Contribute to the development of a consistent and high-quality brand for exhibitions.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an Exhibition Designer or in a similar role within the arts and culture sector.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating creative talent and technical expertise in exhibition design.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., SketchUp, Rhino, 3ds Max), AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent understanding of spatial design, lighting design, and multimedia integration.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Degree in Design, Architecture, Fine Arts, Interior Design, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with fabricators and suppliers.
  • Passion for arts, culture, and storytelling.
