Right now we’re busy working on King of Meat, our new multiplayer cooperative game, wrapped up in a delicious, user-generated blanket of dungeon madness!
This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in our expanding team. Reporting to our Art Lead, you’ll be working closely with them and the rest of the team to research, generate ideas, and iterate on designs for characters, environments, weapons, vending machines, gumball traps, wipe clean shield covers, and things you find in horrible little dark corners…etc etc (you know the stuff!)
From day one we would like you to…
- Jump enthusiastically into understanding what the game is and get to know its creative and artistic direction.
- Master your knowledge on every aspect of the game, player costumes, weapons, props, different environments and game mechanics present in the game.
- Be able to generate creative and fun ideas that are in tone with the humour and style of the game.
- Be a team player - always ready to not only receive, but also give constructive feedback to other members of the Art Team and beyond.
In six months you will be…
- A central member of the Art Team, contributing visuals to all aspects of the games we produce. These might include visualising large environments, decorative and functional props, VFX exploration, even marketing materials, expanding the direction from the Art Director and Lead Artist.
- Visualize and produce gameplay focused assets, following technical requirements and working together with the Game Design team.
- Support and mentor the other concept artists, being a role model for the rest of the team.
- Contribute to the development of 3D assets with proactive and constructive feedback towards other Art Team members.
- Be hands on with the outsourcing vendors, supporting production with feedback and guidance.
Requirements
The ideal candidate would:
- Have a hungry imagination!
- Have a strong architectural and mechanical design knowledge, with experience designing complex architectural structures like buildings, large open spaces and enclosed environments.
- Be able to balance aesthetics and functionality when designing weapons, armour and costumes for our games, while maintaining a push for innovative and creative ideas that fits within the game lore and narrative.
- Have experience mentoring other artists, guiding them with hands on feedback sharing pipeline tips.
- Is experienced working with external outsourcing vendors.
- Strong communicational skills and understanding of various art disciplines.
- Be able to work within a high speed production environment timeframe, being accountable for their tasks and respecting deadlines.
