Our client a well established engineering company based in Cardiff is seeking a Weighbridge operator to join their business on a temporary ongoing contract to start ASAP.
Producing products such as steel reinforcing bars, wire rods, and merchant bars. Their steel products are used in a lot of construction and engineering projects.
About the role
- Immediate start, Ongoing position
- Working hours: Shifts, DAYS AND NIGHTS - 4 on / 4 off
- The hourly rate is 12.21ph
The job role:
You'll be the point of contact for logistics in and out of site.
- Weighing vehicles (lorries/trains) checking that the weight of the loads are correct
- Issuing the correct documentation whether that's delivery documents, waste management documentation or scrap transactions.
- You'll need to keep safety at the forefront of your mind and ensure that drivers follow site rules and have the correct PPE, and able to challenge when something is right.
- You'll be a strong communicator as you'll be communicating with drivers as well as internal departments such as our planning team.
- Using internal databases to ensure or documentation and records are accurate, you will need to someone is comfortable using Microsoft Office.
- Managing customer requirements.
- Liaising with many other departments within the company.
- Aiding planners and loading staff with updates and/or amendments.
- Ensuring vehicles and driver's strictly adhere to site rules and have correct PPE and maintain safe working practices at all times.
You'll be joining a well established manufacturing company - we melt scrap metal and recycle it into new steel products. We're the largest producer of reinforcing steel in the UK and one of the largest metal recyclers, too. We're passionate about circular economy and working towards our target of becoming net zero carbon by 2030, you can be a part of helping us achieve this.
