Role Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon seeking a Monday-to-Friday role with no weekend work, offering a strong focus on work-life balance. The position would suit a positive, motivated vet with a growth mindset who is looking for a new challenge within a supportive practice.
The role is ideally suited to a vet with over two years' experience who is ready to take the next step in their career. There is genuine scope for progression into a Senior Veterinary Surgeon position, with opportunities to support and mentor junior colleagues while enjoying complete clinical freedom. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining high clinical standards and contributing to the continued development of the practice.
The practice is committed to helping every team member achieve their professional goals, with active support for certificates and ongoing CPD. Flexibility is a key priority, with open discussions around full or part-time working patterns to support individual needs and wellbeing.
They are a well-established, locally owned practice run by experienced veterinary surgeons; one is already a certificate holder, while the other is in the final stages of completing his. The clinical team is supported by an experienced Head Nurse who has been with the practice for over five years, alongside a dedicated support team including a VCA, client care advisors, and a practice manager who is also an RVN.
The practice is based in the heart of the community and operates as a standalone small animal clinic, seeing a varied caseload primarily consisting of cats and dogs, with occasional small furries. With a strong emphasis on high-quality care and client service, the practice is well equipped with modern facilities including a dental x-ray, laparoscopy, endoscopy, TPLO equipment, harmonic scalpel, and a K-laser. While most cases are managed in-house, a reputable referral hospital is located within 45 minutes for more complex cases.
A strong interest in clinical development is encouraged, particularly in line with the practice's ongoing commitment to becoming a zero pain accredited clinic. The diary is well structured, with each vet allocated dedicated operating time each week, 15-minute standard consultations, and additional longer appointments where required. Regular catch-up slots and protected time for admin and phone calls are built into the day to ensure a manageable workload.
The clinic operates Monday to Friday from 8am to 7pm and is closed at weekends, with bank holidays covered on a rota basis. Work-life balance is prioritised, with a predictable weekday off each week, an early Friday finish on a rotational basis, and a strong emphasis on leaving on time.
Responsibilities- Maintain high clinical standards and contribute to the continued development of the practice.
- Support and mentor junior colleagues while enjoying complete clinical freedom.
- Manage a well-structured diary, including dedicated operating time, 15-minute standard consultations, and longer appointments as required.
- Engage in clinical development and support the practice's goal of becoming a zero pain accredited clinic.
- Coordinate referral cases with the nearby reputable hospital for complex procedures.
- Registered veterinary surgeon with at least two years' clinical experience.
- Proactive, clinically confident, and keen to further develop surgical and medical skills.
- Positive attitude, good sense of humour, and a growth mindset.
- Capability to work independently while contributing to a team.
- Salary up to £65,000 depending on experience.
- Flexible working arrangements and support for full or part-time schedules.
- Generous CPD support, including funded certificates and paid professional memberships.
- Enhanced annual leave starting at 6.6 weeks from day one.
- Paid birthday day off, enhanced employer pension contributions, and contributory private healthcare.
- Dedicated time for admin and phone calls to maintain manageable workload.

Job Description
Overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join a thriving and progressive veterinary group with practices in the Glasgow area. As the practice continues to expand its facilities, clinical services, and team, this is an exciting time to become part of a well-established organisation with ambitious plans for the future. While the role is ideally suited to a mixed practitioner, applications are also welcomed from veterinarians with a particular interest in farm animal or equine work.
The practice is built around a large, experienced, and collaborative team comprising veterinary surgeons, nurses, animal care assistants, reception staff, and dedicated management professionals. With 17 vets across the group, including four Clinical Directors and three Senior Veterinary Surgeons who remain actively involved in clinical work, the practice offers a supportive environment where knowledge sharing and teamwork are highly valued. Clinical and management teams work seamlessly across both sites, ensuring continuity of care and a strong sense of collaboration.
Clinical excellence is at the heart of the practice. The team offers a range of advanced services, including ophthalmology referrals led by a certificate holder, acupuncture services, laparoscopic surgery, regular sonography clinics, and monthly cardiology consultations. This breadth of expertise provides an interesting and varied caseload, as well as opportunities for ongoing professional development.
Significant investment is currently being made in both locations. The site is undergoing a major refurbishment and extension project, creating a modern veterinary facility with multiple operating theatres, an expanded preparation area, dedicated dental and imaging suites, enhanced laboratory facilities, additional consulting rooms, and dedicated spaces for farm animal examinations and feline patients. At the same time, extensive refurbishment work is taking place at the branch, with upgrades to the kennels, cattery, isolation facilities, and inpatient wards.
The practice is equally committed to investing in its people. Colleague wellbeing is a genuine priority, reflected in initiatives such as weekly Wellness Wednesdays, where teams come together to relax, socialise, and participate in activities ranging from crafts and bingo to wellbeing-focused sessions. Regular social events throughout the year, including an annual curling evening and combined Christmas celebrations, help foster the close-knit and supportive culture that defines the practice.
Professional development is actively encouraged, with generous CPD. Team members are supported in pursuing their individual interests and career ambitions, whether through further qualifications, advanced clinical training, or leadership development.
The successful candidate will join an organisation that values innovation, teamwork, and career progression. Flexible working arrangements are available, allowing the role to be tailored to individual circumstances and helping to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
This opportunity would suit a veterinary surgeon who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care, enjoys working as part of a collaborative team, and is looking to join a practice that is continually investing in its people, services, and facilities. With exciting developments underway and a strong focus on both clinical excellence and employee wellbeing, the practice offers an outstanding environment in which to build a rewarding veterinary career.
