Job Description

General Manager, Pharmacy Operations

Reporting to: Managing Director

Location: South East England and London based.

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

Days and Hours: Full time

Benefits
  • 25 days holiday rising to 30 + 8 bank holidays
  • 5% pension
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • WFH flexibility
  • Cycle to work
  • Free onsite parking
The Opportunity

We have partnered with a high-growth digital health business based in South East England to appoint a General Manager of Pharmacy Operations. The company operates a regulated, technology-enabled pharmacy at significant and growing scale, with an ambitious agenda to become a nationally recognised provider of patient-centred pharmacy services.

This is a genuine GM role, full operational ownership from dispensing and fulfilment through to clinical governance, team leadership, and commercial performance. The business is past the early startup phase and entering a critical scaling period. They need an operator who has done this before: built high-volume, regulated operations, led large shift-based teams, and driven throughput without compromising quality or compliance.

The right candidate will be as comfortable on the floor as they are in the boardroom. This is not a head office role. It requires physical presence, hands‑on leadership, and the ability to build a high-performing team from within.

Non‑Negotiable Criteria
  • Senior operational leadership at Head of Operations, Director, or GM level with full P&L and performance accountability
  • Proven experience scaling a team of 150+ people in a 24/7 shift-based, regulated environment
  • Track record of building or significantly rebuilding an operation, not just inheriting and maintaining an established function
  • Background in a regulated sector: pharmacy, healthcare, pharmaceutical supply chain, food manufacturing, or industrial logistics
  • On-site, visible leadership style, this role requires genuine daily presence, particularly in the first six months
Strongly Preferred
  • Direct experience in pharmacy, healthcare operations, or pharmaceutical fulfilment at scale
  • Familiarity with GPhC, CQC, or equivalent regulatory frameworks
  • Experience partnering with technology or product teams to improve operational systems and patient-facing tools
  • Exposure to patient journey design, clinical pathways, or quality improvement methodologies
  • GPhC registered pharmacist is a strong advantage but not a requirement
The Person

Above all, we are looking for someone with genuine ownership mentality. You make decisions, you take accountability, and you build teams that do the same. You are energised by complexity, comfortable with ambiguity, and motivated by building something with real impact on real patients.

Experience in online or digital pharmacy is a plus, but operational excellence and leadership calibre matter more. If you have scaled a high-volume regulated operation and led large teams through significant change, we want to speak with you.

What's on Offer
  • Competitive and negotiable salary
  • 25 days annual leave rising to 27 after year one and 30 after year two, plus 8 bank holidays
  • 5% employer pension contribution
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
  • Work-from-home flexibility and cycle-to-work scheme
  • A high-visibility role with direct access to founders and leadership, and genuine scope to shape the direction of the operation
