This role goes beyond operational support; it's about making a tangible difference. You'll play a key role in ensuring teams feel supported, connected and set up for success, ultimately creating a positive and lasting impact on colleagues, clients, and patients across the region.

Working Pattern
  • 40 hours per week
  • Field‑based role, combining home working and extensive travel across the region
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop close working relationships with practice leaders and act as the go‑to person for operational support and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain regular contact with practices to ensure teams feel supported and connected to the wider inspiring vet care network.
  • Support practices through change related to the rollout of our national unified brand and other strategic initiatives.
  • Work with the Area Director to identify opportunities to improve team wellbeing, efficiency and client experience.
  • Organise area meetings, prepare agendas, distribute materials and minutes, and ensure actions are completed.
  • Support practices' utilisation of dashboards and reporting tools to identify trends, areas of underperformance and opportunities for growth.
  • Provide support to underperforming sites and assist with implementing improvement plans.
  • Ensure practices are following leadership and performance frameworks.
  • Provide administrative support across finance, recruitment, HR, performance management and health & safety activities.

  • At least 2 years’ coaching and mentoring experience, with the ability to motivate, support and inspire leaders through change.

  • The confidence to influence, collaborate and constructively challenge where required.
  • A broad healthcare background would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • A full and valid driving licence.

About The Role & Practice

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Orthopaedic and Soft Tissue Surgeon to join St George’s Vets, following our current surgeon moving on to a surgical residency.

You will work alongside an experienced orthopaedic/soft tissue surgeon, managing a varied and rewarding caseload including TPLO, BOAS, TECA, large mass removals, and laparoscopic spays. Extended surgical consult times are available for more complex cases, allowing you to deliver high-quality care.

St George’s is a well-equipped GP hospital offering mid-tier referral services to local practices. Facilities include:

  • In-house CT
  • Laparoscopic surgery
  • Extensive orthopaedic and soft tissue surgical equipment (including fracture repair)
  • Endoscopy
  • Full in-house laboratory

We are a collaborative and friendly team of 16 vets and 30 RVNs, including certificate holders and Advanced Practitioners. The practice spans nine sites and is set to relocate its main hospital to a brand-new purpose-built facility within the next 18 months.

Overnight care for hospitalised patients is supported on-site by Vets Now, ensuring continuous patient care outside of core hours.

We can offer a 4-day, 40-hour working week, offering a strong work-life balance, alongside a shared 1 in 5 Saturday rota.

St George’s Vets is based in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, with excellent transport links across the region. You’ll have easy access to Birmingham city centre, as well as direct rail connections to major cities including London and Manchester. The area offers a great mix of city living and nearby countryside, making it an ideal location whether you prefer a busy urban lifestyle or something more relaxed.
