Position Details

To provide highly specialised, complex, evidence-based pharmacy care to haematology/oncology patients within Rivers Hospital.
To support healthcare professionals in the safe and effective management of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Consultants to produce and review new SACT protocols, working alongside the Lead Cancer Pharmacist and peers from other hospitals.
  • Verify prescriptions for SACT and supportive treatments.
  • Oversee the ordering, storage, supply, and billing of SACT; support staff training and accreditation; review and develop related procedures.
  • Provide specialist input into patient information and communication regarding SACT treatment.
  • Support and train staff in the use of the hospital’s SACT EPMA system.
  • Assist in implementing corporate SACT policies, procedures, and training programmes within the hospital.
  • Contribute to the development of cancer pharmacy services and staff.
  • Review SACT audits, incidents, and usage data to ensure safe and cost-effective treatment.
  • Collaborate with cancer services pharmacists across hospitals and represent Rivers Hospital on the SACT Committee.
  • Provide pharmacist cover outside of cancer services when required.
Qualifications Essential Experience
  • Clinical pharmacy services in haematology/oncology within secondary care.
  • Appraisal of new medicines.
  • Delivery of training to pharmacy staff.
  • Experience in audit and incident review.
Preferred Experience
  • Training delivery to cancer services pharmacy staff.
  • Appraisal of new SACT.
  • Familiarity with EPMA systems.
  • Peer review experience in cancer pharmacy services.
  • Practising as an Independent Prescriber (IP).
Essential Education and Capabilities
  • MPharm or equivalent.
  • GPhC registered pharmacist.
  • Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy (e.g. Certificate or Diploma).
  • Awareness of resources supporting SACT services.
  • Understanding of cancer standards relevant to pharmacy.
Preferred Education and Capabilities
  • BOPA SACT Verification Passport.
  • IP qualification (or working towards it).

The role:  We are currently seeking full-time Study Skills Lecturers who will work  in close collaboration with subject lecturers to develop and teach study skills within the curriculum across a range of HE programmes from Foundation to Masters’ Level as part of our BSU, UoS and OBU partnerships. This includes for example, improving English language and numeracy, organisational and presentation skills, digital literacy and basic IT skills, reading, writing and higher order research skills. Due to our delivery model, we require flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and at weekends.

Please note this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

What you'll be doing:

  • Designing/documenting bespoke courses, digital resources, workshop plans and individual schemes of work as required to develop study skills in the curricula
  • Delivering/evaluating teaching and identifying areas for potential improvement to enhance the quality of teaching, learning and overall student experience in accordance with the GBS’s Learning and Teaching strategy
  • Providing feedback on individual and class progress in their understanding of academic writing and other relevant study skills
  • Providing tutorial consultations with students, constructive comments individual to each student's need, explaining where work fails to meet assessment criteria and suggesting ways to improve their work / working practices
  • Recording details from these appointments for statistical, evaluation and quality purposes, and to refer students to other services as appropriate
  • Effectively engaging with VLE and research resources and facilitate students’ learning by means of engagement with online resources and activities.
  • Contributing to GBS quality assurance systems and processes

About You: 

  • You will hold a Master's degree in relevant subject area (PhD desirable) 
  • You will have previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area
  • You will have successful track record of teaching adult learners from diverse backgrounds on HE programmes
  • You will have proven experience of providing individual and group study skills support in response to identified learning needs
  • You will be willing to lead a specific area of literacy development, such as reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills (quantitative or qualitative), project and dissertation support, peer-assisted learning;
  • You will be able to demonstrate a high level of digital literacy and advanced communication skills

Desirable:

  • Expertise in digital educational resources development, course design and curriculum development
  • DELTA qualification
