The role:    

We are looking for a Lead Clinician to manage our in-house Clinical Team at Bestwood Village School based in Nottingham. The postholder will work collaboratively with both the school’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the Regional Clinical Lead. The role will be split between clinically leading the team and holding a therapy caseload. Working collaboratively with the team, the postholder will deliver bespoke assessment and intervention plans for our students who may present with complex profiles of need as a result of autism and other types of neurodivergence, developmental trauma and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.  Meeting the needs of EHCP plans will be a primary focus in this role, target led, via the OFG ‘all’, ‘group’ and ‘individual’ clinical ways of working, embedded into our clinical practice. They will also be responsible for coordinating the line management of the members of the onsite clinical team and leading on the service development of the clinical school-based service, alongside the school SLT and Regional Clinical Lead.

Essential Criteria:  

  • Degree qualification in specific discipline plus additional experience in leadership and management
  • Valid and up to date professional Registration & membership of professional body e.g. BPS
  • Experience within the specialist client group; working with autistic individuals and/or those with complex needs.
  • Clear and concise report writing relating to clinical and research activities
  • Experience of providing supervision and supporting a therapy team
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work dynamically and within a growing and developing clinical service
  • Experience of multi-professional work with teams or services within the designated  specialty preferred
  • Full UK valid driving licence and access to own vehicle

Job Title:   English Teacher

Location:    Glebedale School, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 3AY

Salary:        Up to £45,000 per annum depending on experience (not pro rata)

Hours:   37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 

Contract:    Permanent, TermTime Only

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a English Teacher to join our close-knit team at Glebedale  School located in Stoke-on-Trent.

About the role 

To secure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improve standards of learning and achievement for all pupils. Improve the quality of pupils’ learning in English and to contribute to the development and / or implementation of English policy and procedure.

Have lead responsibility for English across the secondary school and develop plans which identify clear targets and success criteria for its development and / or maintenance and in consultation with the Headteacher/Deputy Headteacher undertake other identified areas of responsibility as necessary to ensure effective delivery of the school’s curriculum; 

General Responsibilities 

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils and young people;
  • Work in accordance with professional practice, statutory and legal requirements and the policies of Glebedale School;
  • Take responsibility for specific areas of work which will be reviewed annually then negotiated and agreed within the performance management cycle and school improvement process;
  • Support all staff in achieving the priorities and targets of the school improvement plan and monitor the progress of those which relate to English;
  • Set appropriate and achievable expectations and targets for pupils
  • Ensure that parent/carers are well informed about the curriculum, targets, pupil’s progress and attainment in English across the whole school. 

Knowledge and Understanding 

  • The school’s vision, aims, priorities, targets, curriculum policies and action plans;
  • Any statutory curriculum requirements and the requirements for assessment, recording and reporting of pupils’ attainment and progress;
  • The characteristics of high-quality teaching and the main strategies for improving and sustaining high standards of teaching, learning and achievement for all pupils;
  • The implications of the code of practice of special educational needs for teaching and learning.

Glebedale School is a special needs school which provides provision for ages 7 years and upwards.  We provide a nurturing and welcoming environment to SEMH pupils, and our curriculum has a keen focus on therapy, education and personal development.  Our school aims to help pupils grow academically, socially and emotionally to enable them to become capable future citizens.

We provide education to 30 pupils from the Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and Cheshire areas. At our last Ofsted in December 2022, we were rated “Good”.
