A bit about the job
You’ll assess life, terminal illness and critical illness claims – from investigation to outcome – while supporting customers with empathy, including delivering difficult news sensitively.
From start to finish, you’ll guide customers through their claims journey with care and clarity, and refer complex cases to specialists when needed.
You’ll manage a portfolio of claims across multiple systems, suggest improvements, and adapt to new technologies. Communication is key, when working with brokers and third parties, as well as customers.
You’ll also be a key contact for technical queries and help coach others. This role is all about delivering great service and making a real difference.
Skills and experience we’re looking for
Experience assessing life-related products (e.g., life insurance, terminal illness, critical illness, income protection).
Knowledge of legal aspects like probate and CIDRA rules.
Experience managing claims end-to-end, including signing out claim’s decisions independently.
Strong communication skills, including supporting vulnerable customers, with customer-first mindset with great attention to detail.
Confidence in making decisions and adapting quickly to change.

You’ll launch your career in Nuclear Engineering with our customised training programme. Taking on a real job at a junior level, you'll gain invaluable hands-on experience while being mentored by highly skilled professionals.
You’ll help shape equipment reliability of a particular plant area, learn engineering and safety case principles in order to do work on a Nuclear Power Plant. You’ll also gain experience in team working, problem solving, and using human performance tools, with opportunities to work on plant operations and explore other areas of interest.
What You’ll Be Doing
During your Nuclear Engineering, you’ll gain in-depth experience within an multi-discipline team and work with electrical, mechanical, control and instrumentation engineers. You’ll learn about systems vital to the smooth operation of plant systems onsite, including safety protocols, technical governance, quality assurance, analysis, communication strategies and technical knowledge.
Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to see how other departments within the power station function, expanding your understanding of the broader industry.
Past students have worked on projects improving safety systems, performed routine monitoring of plant and work on equipment reliability issue and maintenance policy to improve the over functionality of the plant areas.
Your Work Location
You’ll be based on site at our power station situated at our Torness Power Station, Scotland.

Are you organised, detail-driven, and a great communicator? We’re hiring a Compliance Co-ordinator — a key role ensuring Torness station meets all Site Licence and Statutory requirements.
In this vital position, you'll lead compliance monitoring and reporting across online and outage activities, liaising with internal departments and external bodies. Who You Are
Candidates should hold a relevant HNC or equivalent qualification and ideally have broad plant knowledge with an understanding of operational and maintenance constraints, preferably in power station environments although relevant experience in technical, operational, or engineering roles from other high-hazard industries will be considered. The role ideally requires familiarity with nuclear and conventional plant systems, site licence conditions, and associated legislation. You’ll need to analyse complex information under pressure, apply Human Performance tools effectively, and be proficient in Microsoft applications and other relevant asset management systems.
Pay, Benefits & Culture
The salary range associated with this role is between £45,641 - £5,993 however the starting salary
for this appointment will be within the range of 5,641 - 1,263 and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications. Please be aware this is a full time, site-based role.

The Opportunity
This 12-month placement offers a starting salary of £24,500 and the chance to work at our #Torness Power Station in Scotland. You’ll join our Business Performance Programme, gaining hands-on experience in a junior role while being supported by skilled colleagues.
You’ll apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges in the energy industry. From safety improvements to radiation protection and condition monitoring, this placement offers a wide range of learning opportunities that will help you grow professionally and personally.
What You’ll Be Doing
During your Engineering Industrial Placement, you’ll work on projects that previous students have found rewarding. These include supporting safety campaigns, exploring radiation protection in new power stations, and helping maintain condition monitoring programmes across operational sites
You’ll be part of a collaborative team, applying your engineering skills to practical challenges and gaining insight into the operations of a nuclear power station. This is a chance to build your confidence, develop technical expertise, and make a real impact.
Your Work Location
You’ll be based at our #Torness Power Station in Scotland (EH42), where you’ll work on site and connect with colleagues across the business.
Who You Are
To be eligible for this EDF industrial placement, you need to be on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a 2:2 undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering , Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
