An exciting opportunity for a supervising Social Worker who enjoys working within a challenging, fast paced service has arisen within Foster Wales Bridgend.

The Fostering Team are part of the Cwm Taff Region and as part of our approach to recruiting additional foster carers we have developed a regional front door to ensure a timely response to any new enquiries.

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and knowledgeable Social Worker to supervise foster carers and complete annual reviews in line with regulatory requirements.

You will undertake Form F assessments for prospective general foster carers and support those applicants through the assessment process, proactively support the recruitment of foster carers and have up to date knowledge of Fostering Regulations.

You will be involved with our developing peer support for foster carers by attending support groups, attend/organise support and development workshops for foster carers. You will also play a key role in supporting the retention of carers by supporting events for carers and the children in their care at key times of the year and supporting consultation events.

The role will involve collaborative working across all the Childrens teams within the Local Authority, in particular the Care Experienced Team who support children looked after. We also work closely with the Kinship and Permanence Team who supported connected persons foster carers and Special Guardians and share Duty.

We are a small and friendly team with great learning and development opportunities for staff to progress their career aspirations. This post has only become available due to career progression within the team.

In Bridgend County Borough Council we aim to ensure that Kinship Carers are recognised as professionals and they are actively involved when decisions are being made about children in their care. We strive to ensure Kinship Carers are provided with the right support at the right time to enable the children and young people in their care achieve the best possible outcomes. We achieve this by co-producing our service with Kinship Carers to ensure our service reflects their needs. We are seeking Social Workers who share our passion for Kinship Care.

In your role as Supervising Social Worker, you will be able to evidence the ability to complete comprehensive, evidence-based Connected Persons and Special Guardianship assessments of kinship carers and provide support through reflective supervision, Annual Reviews and learning and development opportunities.

To be able to achieve this, you have a track record of being able to work collaboratively not only with Kinship carers, Children and Families, but also with all other professionals who form part of the team around the child. You will be organised, able to prioritise your work to meet timescales and have excellent communication skills.

We sit alongside the General Fostering Team, so duties will also include Duty, participation in Recruitment and Retention activities, sitting Foster Panel and engaging Team Meetings and Development Days.

To support you in your role as a Supervising Social Worker, not only will you be joining a friendly, well-established team, you will also receive a robust induction, regular reflective supervision, excellent and varied training opportunities, as well as additional support and mentoring to develop your skills. The homes aim to:

- Provide children/young people with an individualised package of support that focuses on their assessed needs.

As a Senior Children's Residential Worker in Bridgend whilst you will be based in one service, at times you may be required to work across a range of services supporting young people and the residential service as a whole. You will be suitably qualified in line with the qualification framework as well as having substantial experience working in children's residential care and have suitable experience detailing this. As senior you will be responsible for organising and running shift, attending meetings, writing reports, health and safety, supporting key working, petty cash, medication, supervising staff and ensuring regulatory requirements are met.

The successful applicant will form part of the management team at the service and be an integral part in our delivery of care and support. The successful applicant will be committed to their own personal professional development but also committed to improving and the development of the workforce under your charge. The role requires the candidate to be level 3 qualified in health and social (CYP), and if they do not already possess the level 4 (in preparing for leadership and management) and or level 5 qualification (leadership and management in HSC: Practice), a willingness to work towards these.
