Brand new mid-level or Senior Software Engineer job now available near Welshpool, Wales.

This is a full-time permanent job, paying a base salary between £40,000 - £60,000 depending on skills and experience.

We’re looking for an experienced Mid Level or Senior Software Engineer to join a growing R&D team developing innovative embedded and real-time software solutions.

In this role, the Embedded Software Engineer based near Welshpool will:

• Design and develop software in C++/C for embedded and Linux-based systems
• Contribute to code reviews, requirement specifications, and system design
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and lead projects
• Plan and deliver high-quality software to agreed timelines

The ideal background of the Embedded Engineer near Welshpool:

• Degree-qualified in an engineering discipline.
• C++/C software development experience
• Experience with embedded systems and real-time environments
• A collaborative team player with a passion for problem-solving

• Work directly with certification bodies to get products approved.

• Partner with the Innovation team to make sure new designs meet the right standards.

• Support technical sales with certification and compliance questions.

• Stay on top of regulatory changes that affect the products.

• Prepare declarations of conformance and related documentation.

• A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

• Hands-on experience with certification processes and product standards.

• Solid communication and teamwork skills.

• Knowledge of AC variable speed drives.

You'll manage the full product lifecycle from specification and development through to launch and commercial delivery. This is a key position combining technical depth with commercial strategy, working across engineering, sales, and marketing teams to drive innovation and growth.

What you'll do:

• Manage the technical and commercial aspects of a defined product range.

• Produce detailed product specifications and liaise with customers to align requirements.

• Oversee projects through design, validation, and production.

• Present features, benefits, and business cases to both technical and commercial audiences.

• Support long-term product planning to meet future market needs.

What you'll need:

• Engineering qualification (Electrical, Electronic, or similar).

• Minimum 10 years of experience in the Variable Speed Drives (VSD) or Motion Control industry.

• Strong customer-facing and communication skills.

• Experience balancing technical understanding with commercial decision-making.

• Self-motivated and comfortable working both independently and as part of a fast-paced team.
