As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will contribute to projects that significantly impact our environment and communities. Working primarily in the UK water market, MMB provides the feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning services needed to keep water flowing and wastewater treated. You'll work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and our communities by enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of water and wastewater treatment systems.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping the mechanical functions throughout the lifecycle of various projects. From concept design to commissioning, you will ensure that all mechanical aspects are meticulously considered and integrated.
The role of a Senior Mechanical Engineer includes:
- Lead the mechanical design of water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects through the outline and detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover, including, but not limited to, P&IDs, valve schedules, pump calculations, defining safe access and lifting arrangements, above ground pipework layouts, etc.
- Coordinate with the project team comprising of Electrical, Civil, Geotech and Process designers and ensure designs are completed on programme, within budget, and to the quality defined by framework specifications
- Working closely and collaboratively with the commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages, construction and beyond
- Positively engage with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one-team approach to supporting them in achieving their aims
- Supporting the development of the mechanical engineering team, coaching and mentoring engineers to develop their skill set and identifying the correct resource for the projects
What you'll need:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Chartered or incorporated member of professional institution e.g ICE, IMechE, etc, or equivalent experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders
- Methodical approach to problem solving
- A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer specialising in dams and/or river engineering who will lead, support and mentor during the design of our dams and reservoir programme of works. You will support through outline and detailed design, site support and handover, including hydraulics, structures and temporary works.
As a Senior Civil Engineer your duties will include:
- Support our Project Team's by leading the Civil engineering associated with Dams and Reservoirs, harnessing our existing expertise in geotechnical engineering, dam foundation analysis, risk assessment and breach analysis, hydraulic structures, dam body analysis and collaborating with our specialists in hydrology, hydropower, water transfers, environment, planning and beyond.

As a Engineering Geologist within MMB you will be supported by an existing Geotechnical team distributed across multiple national MMB framework contracts with some of the UK's largest water companies. As an Engineering Geologist within MMB, you will:
- Undertake geotechnical desk studies, design of ground investigations, compilation of ground investigation tender documentation and contract administration.
- Support in the technical supervision of ground investigation fieldworks and liaison with ground investigation contractors.
- Interpretation and verification of ground investigation data including presentation of appropriate ground model, development of geotechnical design parameters and clear presentation of ground risks.
- Production of ground investigation reports and geotechnical design reports in accordance with EC7.
- Liaise with wider non specialist project team members (design and construction) to develop best-value engineering designs and clearly communicate identified project ground risks and suitable mitigation.
- Undertake various geotechnical analyses and design, produce calculation packages, input to works specifications and drawings for construction.
What you can offer:
- Degree in geotechnical engineering or engineering geology (MEng/MSc).
- Strong engineering geology and geotechnical design competencies, ideally in the water/wastewater sector.
- Experience in the field of ground engineering in the UK, with a full understanding of the geotechnical lifecycle of construction projects.
- Previous experience undertaking project desk studies, identifying key ground risks, planning and supervising ground investigations, developing ground models, undertaking ground interpretation and delivering elements of geotechnical design.
- Working towards or have achieved Chartership through a relevant Institution (ICE/IOM3/GeolSoc).

About the role
As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will work as part of the Mechanical Team to provide support in the delivery of multi-disciplined projects. You will be based in the office working on the Mechanical design aspects, in an operational office or out on-site supporting delivery and commissioning depending on the phase of the project. If working on site, you will be working alongside a commissioning engineer. About the role
Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) are looking for an Engineering Geologist with a desire to develop innovative and pragmatic ways of working, reduce carbon and protect the environment.
What you'll do:
- Undertake geotechnical desk studies, design of ground investigations, compilation of ground investigation tender documentation and contract administration.
- Support in the technical supervision of ground investigation fieldworks and liaison with ground investigation contractors.
- Interpretation of ground investigation data including presentation of appropriate ground models, development of geotechnical design parameters and clear presentation of identified ground risks.
