About the role
The Case Progression Manager is a critical role in overseeing the timely and effective movement of matters within the Public Law Outline (PLO) process. This role ensures that statutory responsibilities are met and that children’s welfare remains central to all decision-making. The postholder works closely with Social Workers, Team Managers, legal services, and multi-agency partners to monitor case trajectories, identify delays, and drive improvements in practice.
The Case Progression Manager acts as a bridge between operational teams and legal services, facilitating effective communication and ensuring that cases are legally sound and procedurally compliant. They track performance indicators such as timescales for assessments, pre-proceedings actions, and court submissions, identifying patterns of drift and escalating concerns where necessary. The role also involves coaching and mentoring staff, promoting reflective practice, and encouraging critical thinking in complex decision-making. By coordinating multi-agency input and ensuring timely information sharing, the Case Progression Manager helps maintain momentum in cases and supports the achievement of positive outcomes for children. The role includes will preparing monthly performance reports for each of the localities and also present a quarterly legal report to the senior management team and within this be able to analyse trends, areas of focus and propose actions required.
The role includes working closely with the Social Work Academy and the legal department to develop and deliver targeted training packages for staff. These training initiatives aim to strengthen practitioners’ understanding of legal processes, improve the quality of court documentation, and embed best practice in case planning and progression.
About You
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Social Worker with substantial experience in statutory children’s services, including safeguarding and court work. They will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of child protection legislation and the PLO framework, and the ability to challenge practice constructively while fostering a culture of accountability and learning. The role demands resilience, excellent communication, and a commitment to promoting the rights and welfare of children through high-quality, timely interventions.
As well as your social work experience, there are some things we require of you to be successfully appointed to this post:
- a full driving licence and willingness to drive
- DBS clearance
- To have completed your ASYE year (if you qualified after 2012)
- Social Work England registration

About you
As an Advanced Pra ctitioner you are at the heart of Gloucestershire’s practice model. You will hold an expert role within your team. Your role includes facilitating the team and service’s ability to develop and deliver complex social work practice through a combination of joint working, practice advice and guidance, and quality assurance.
You will also model Gloucestershire’s relational systemic practice model and will help promote Gloucestershire’s practice standards across the team.
Advanced Practitioners provide direction to team members around improving the quality of practice. This may include activities such as quality assuring an assessment or attending joint visits with social workers to support their learning.
As an Advanced Practitioner you may provide Newly Qualified Social Workers in the team with monthly reflective supervision and undertake one of the observations of practice, however management of the NQSW will sit with Team Managers. You will also support any Social Work students within the team.
You will have a joint lead for a particular area of practice offering a weekly consultation to practitioners from across the service to book into, to support them to develop their practice in that specific area.
You will work closely with the Social Work Academy through regular forums and training to ensure standardised practice across the teams, bringing new learning and training opportunities to social workers within your team.
As an Advanced Practitioner you will hold a small number of cases, ensuring you have dedicated time to follow your other duties.

About the role:
   
We have full time (37 hours) Adult Social Care Practitioner positions available in our Hospital Discharge and Assessment Team. The nature of this post requires travelling around the County.
Our supportive and engaged team structure includes an Integrated Social Care Manager, two Deputy Social Care Managers, Social Work Leads, Social Care Leads, Care Navigator Coordinators, a Senior Social Worker, Social Workers, Adult Social Care Practitioners, Care Navigators and an administration team.
As an Adult Social Care Practitioner, you will be undertaking assessments and support plans with people who have physical disabilities or other complex needs. This role will involve working with families, carers and other professionals, agencies and organisations across Gloucestershire.
The work is focused on promoting independence, enabling the individuals we work with to remain in their own homes and reduce the need for hospital admission or long term care. The ideal candidate will be someone who has experience of working in a health and/or social care setting and who has knowledge of the Care Act; and the ability to apply it in practice.
