The successful candidate will become part of a large, multidisciplinary SMS team comprising approximately 20 experienced professionals in the deployment and sustainment of the SMS within the Boeing Defence UK Chinook Programme.
The successful candidate will lead the SMS within the UK Chinook Programme and will be responsible for ensuring an effective SMS is maintained in this crucial UK MoD programme.
**The role has the following key responsibilities:**
Lead the Safety Management Systems for the Boeing UK Chinook Programme.
+ Lead the Safety Risk Management strategy for the Programme to effectively derive hazards and risks.
+ Lead the facilitation of Hazard Identification working groups to create, review and mature BowTies.
+ Sustain a Positive Safety Culture
Lead the management of all Chinook safety occurrence reports and investigations ensuring the quality and completeness of all reports.
+ Perform Safety Investigations in response to the triaging of safety reports.
+ Interface with both internal and external key stakeholders in the processing and managing safety reports and issues.
+ Lead Safety Promotion activities in support of the Programme. Manage the SMS meetings schedule for the Programme ensuring effective audit trail and management of actions and deadlines. Creation and maintenance of SMS documentation relating to the Chinook Programme SMS. Establish and maintain SMS interface with the MoD Air Safety Teams and key Suppliers to the Programme. Delivery of SMS training as required to support compliance with regulation and BDUK procedures.
Travel within the UK is expected and some overseas travel may be required.
**Essential competencies, experience and qualities:**
+ Formal Safety Management Systems training and experience and significant experience in aviation maintenance and/ or engineering.
+ Training in Safety Risk Management and experience in utilising BowTie methodology.
+ Experience and understanding of military aviation regulations and their application.
+ Qualified Safety Investigator with experience in conducting and leading safety investigations over several years.
+ A sound understanding of Just Culture principles and their application.
+ Experience in managing large volumes of safety reports using military or civil reporting tools and processes.
+ Experience in working across multiple functions and levels to build relationships and understanding to build trust and a positive safety culture.
+ The candidate should possess strong communication and organisational skills and demonstrate the ability to use common IT and project management concepts/tools.
+ The role will have significant UK MoD customers, supplier and wider Boeing interfaces and, therefore, a person who possesses good interpersonal skills balanced with diplomacy and resolve is essential.
**Desirable competencies:**
+ Qualified and experienced Human Factors trainer.
+ Experience using the MoD's ASIMS tool for in-service occurrence monitoring and trending or a civil equivalent system.

We are looking for an Intern to support the **Flight Test & Evaluation** team in the **Salisbury, UK** area. Boeing Test & Evaluation conducts the maintenance and trials flying of Chinook, Apache and E7 aircraft from several locations in the UK. The team consists of pilots and aircrew working alongside flight test engineers to deliver test programmes in support of UK capability. This internship is at the heart of the flying organisation supporting the Chief Test Pilot and his team. + Support to the Flight Test Operations team in the execution/delivery of any ongoing flight trials
+ Conduct of internal Audits - developing system for tracking, conduct and reporting of internal audits in order to output Quality metrics and support Air Safety judgement
+ Maintain the drumbeat of team meetings alongside the tracking of team decisions and actions using the Centrik tool
+ Maintain the team processes, templates, org structure and list of Responsibilities, Authorities and Accountabilities
+ Tracking of team performance and the generation of internal metrics
+ Conduct and document Continuous improvement activities for the team

**Role Overview**
Major UK programmes such as Apache, Chinook, C-17, P-8A and E7 Wedgetail are supported and delivered by Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) Ltd, a subsidiary of The Boeing Company. The role of the Technician position will form part of a Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) organisation within BDUK, working as part of a team in support of our key programmes. **Responsibilities**
+ Reporting to a Supervisor, this role primarily conducts assigned maintenance tasks. Must be capable of understanding, interpreting and implementing technical information and ensuring that work/tasks completed have been carried out in accordance with the Approved Technical Data and correctly certified in line with their authorisations.
+ The role ideally requires technical skills and knowledge of maintenance practices and techniques. + Deliver aircraft maintenance under Boeing's own MAA MRP Part 145 approval or under the approval of the MOD customer.

+ Perform routine troubleshooting of complex aircraft systems, such as pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical/electronic to isolate faults and repair faulty components IAW technical information published in authorised maintenance documents.

+ Provide advice, guidance and mentoring to peers and others appropriate to their role.
+ Exercise, or work under appropriate supervision for the role.
