Job Title: English Teacher
Location: Bricklehurst Manor School, Stonegate East Sussex, TN5 7EL
Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum dependant on experience ( not pro rata )
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (Part-Time hours available TBC)
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
Start Date: November 2025
UK Applicants only. This role does not offer sponsorship
We’re delighted to be recruiting an English Teacher for our brand-new Bricklehurst Manor School — a specialist setting for pupils aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Opening soon in beautiful Wadhurst, East Sussex, this is a rare opportunity to be part of a school from the very beginning — helping to shape its vision, culture, and curriculum.
About the Role
As our new English Teacher, you’ll do far more than teach grammar and literature — you’ll ignite imagination, nurture confidence, and help young people discover their own voice. Working alongside a passionate and experienced leadership team, you’ll help design and deliver a curriculum that’s creative, inclusive, and ambitious for every learner.
You’ll have the freedom to shape your classroom, inspire curiosity, and bring learning to life through stories, debate, and real-world connections. Whether it’s celebrating a breakthrough moment in writing or helping a pupil rediscover their love for reading, every day will bring purpose and pride.
Your Impact
- Deliver an engaging and differentiated English curriculum that meets the diverse needs of our pupils
- Inspire a love of language, literature, and communication through creative, student-centred teaching
- Lead and develop the English subject, ensuring consistent quality and innovation
- Support and mentor colleagues, contributing to a culture of reflection and continuous improvement
- Track and celebrate progress — academic, personal, and emotional — for every learner
- Collaborate closely with the wider team to create an inclusive, nurturing school community
Who We’re Looking For
You’ll be a passionate educator with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a genuine interest in SEN and SEMH education . You’ll bring warmth, creativity, and resilience — ready to meet challenges with positivity and imagination. Strong communication and teamwork skills are key, as you’ll help to shape both the English curriculum and the wider culture of this exciting new school.
At Bricklehurst Manor, you’ll be part of a close-knit, forward-thinking team that values creativity, wellbeing, and collaboration. This isn’t just a teaching job — it’s a chance to help build something extraordinary from the ground up.
About the School
Bricklehurst Manor School is a brand-new, co-educational SEMH school located in Wadhurst, East Sussex, for pupils aged 11–16. The school will cater for up to 60 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated additional needs.
This is a unique opportunity to join the school at its inception, helping to shape the culture, ethos, and learning environment. With small class sizes and a strong focus on personalised support, Bricklehurst Manor School provides a nurturing, inclusive setting where every pupil can build confidence, resilience, and achieve their full potential.
