About the Role
As an SEN Teacher, you’ll play a key role in shaping a high-quality, personalised learning journey for every student. You will plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in line with each student’s individual learning profile, supported by a team of Learning Support Assistants, Tutors, and Therapists.
This is a hands-on teaching role with a strong emphasis on emotional intelligence, creativity, and multi-disciplinary collaboration. You will be supported by the Headteacher and work closely with education and care colleagues to ensure the best outcomes for each learner.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver tailored lessons to individuals and small groups, in line with our curriculum and school policies
- Monitor and report on student progress through assessments and personalised learning plans
- Develop and review IEPs, IBPs, and other individualised support documents with input from the wider team
- Coordinate teaching, assessment, and reporting across key stages
- Create a stimulating classroom environment that supports learning, independence, and engagement
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, support staff, and the senior leadership team
- Ensure student safety at all times, including during off-site activities
- Provide clear guidance and direction to Learning Support Assistants and other staff members
Requirements
- UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Proven experience teaching students with autism and/or special educational needs
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to differentiate lessons and engage students with varying levels of ability and need
- Passionate about inclusive education and student-centred learning
