We have a 12 month opportunity to join the Dorset team as a Carpenter Multi Trade.  If you are an experienced carpenter, with extra skills such as plastering, painting and decorating, bricklaying/rendering, why not considering joining the team.   

What you’ll be doing

You’ve probably guessed, and you’re right, you’ll be completing carpentry repair works in our customers homes in the Dorset region. We’ll also call on your previous Wet Trade knowledge and experience to support the team. Internally, you’ll be known as a Carpenter level 2.

You’ll be working in our customer’s homes, so you’ll have a customer service focus wanting to do a great job every time. 

No two days are the same. You’ll carry out a number of jobs in a day with your work shared with you via your handheld device, your PDA. Primarily you’ll work alone but you’ll be part of the wider team so there’s always someone at the end of the phone to support you.

About you

You’ll have a carpentry qualification, NVQ or equivalent. You’ll be able to identify causes and specify materials required to rectify carpentry issues. You will also have additional Wet Trade skills such as plastering and bricklaying/rendering.

You’ll need to be a confident user of IT, your work is shared via an iPad and you’ll need to control & manage your van stock electronically.

You’ll be working with a variety of teams and communicating with them regularly, so you’ll be confident in managing expectations of both internal and external customers. You’ll also provide personal care where needed, such as:

• Assisting with washing, bathing, and hair/oral care

• Helping with dressing, toileting, and safe waste disposal

• Supporting meal preparation and eating/drinking

• Assisting with mobility, transfers, or hoisting

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Compassionate, patient, and reliable

• Able to communicate well with colleagues and customers

• Capable of basic literacy and numeracy tasks

• Ideally experienced in a caring role (though training is provided)

You will also need to:

• Pass a DBS check (or be on the update service)

• Verify your right to work in the UK 

It’s a bonus if you have experience working with adults with physical, learning, or mental health disabilities and providing personal care.
