We're looking for an Engineering Manager to join our KierBam JV project at Hinkley Point C based in Bridgwater, Somerset, KierBam are a Joint Venture (JV) partnership between Kier and Bam Nuttall.
Location : Site based, Bridgwater, Somerset
Hours : Permanent, Full Time
What will you be responsible for?
As an Engineering Manager, you'll be working to assist us on what is one of UK's largest construction projects. You will report to the Project Director in all aspects of Engineering Management in Pre-construction and Project support.
Your day to day will include:
- Tenders and ECI - early involvement; temporary works design / advice.
- Technical Lead for - client contact and liaison; ECI; tender optioneering; design meetings; site teams permanent and temporary works; CDM and HSQE; junior engineer training. First contact for - client technical queries; site teams' technical support.
- Required knowledge - design delivery process; project management process; company procedures and relevant government legislation; design standards and methods; BIM methods and procedures; commercial and risk awareness; contract forms.
- Quality Management - the quality manager will report into the engineering manager and ensure that the works are installed to quality requirements, re-work is prevented and processes are in place to evidence compliance with requirements
- People Management - build strong relationships across the Division and supply chain to achieve compliance; represent the Company on various external forums; undertake project site audits, inspect engineering and design compliance and provide encouragement and advice; provide coaching, training and support as required.

The role of the Sub-Agent is to, provide engineering control and supervise production resources, ensuring compliance with project and company systems for a defined area of the works at Hinkley Point C.
Your day to day will include:
- Producing, monitoring and managing short-term lookahead programmes
- Sound commercial awareness at Sub-Agent level
- Management of temporary works on-site, with prior experience as a TWS/TWC
- Permanent works design input and review to ensure constructability
- Managing change process through RFI/ FCR/ NCR
- Managing and mentoring junior staff
What are we looking for as a Sub-Agent?
This role of Sub-Agent is great for you if:
- Experience in planning, managing, and monitoring civil works (earthworks, structures, drainage, reinforced concrete, or temporary works).
- Previous experience as a sub-agent & working knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial awareness of project delivery.
- CSCS & SMSTS
- Excellent understanding of CDM regulations and site safety standards.

The Pre-Construction Buildability – Project Engineer role - Methods Manager Role
Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Project Engineer will focuses on developing practical, efficient, and safe construction methods. As a growing discipline in the UK, it offers strong progression opportunities.
You'll be responsible for providing support to the ‘methods' team. In particular:
- Review and input to the constructability of the permanent design.
- Draw up the structural works execution strategy.
- Draw up a preparation schedule for Methods and Plant.
- Participate in technical/price studies for different construction solutions for the structure.
- Set the execution methods (methods sequencing, operating procedures, phasing, cycles) in line with the Programme and the Quality-Safety-Environment rules.
- Carry out studies regarding site installations and the lifting equipment working closely with the lifting team.
- Determine all plant resources needed for steelwork erection, cladding installation, M&E Logistical movements and safety.
- Provide monitoring and inspection of manufacturers of special plant/equipment: consultation, ordering, checking the calculation notes and fabrication drawings, acceptance in factory, dummy assembly, packaging.
- Manage the Methods technicians/engineers and draughtsperson.
- Monitor studies of technical risks (Methods) of the project.
Your profile
- Engineering Degree qualified and preferably have a construction engineering industry related Professional membership (e.g ICE, IStructE, MCIOB, etc)
- Experience of working on large construction projects £100mil +
- Knowledge of the full Microsoft office suite
- Autocad skills to review or sketch designs preferred – but ability to pick up software with training quickly.
- Coordination and negotiation skills
- Technical knowledge and commercially minded
- Methodical, have authority, tenacious and have a sense of responsibility.
