Our Role
We are looking for experienced Overhead Line Chargehands to join our teams working on our UKPN contract. The Chargehand Linesperson will be the responsible party for leading teams of 2- or 3-person teams in the erection of poles, changing transformers and carry out any other overhead line work that may be required.
We have secured a 5 year contract with UK Power Networks, providing support across their ED2 Distribution Network Programme. We will be providing services across all distribution assets, including overhead lines, underground cabling and substations on LV, 11kV, and 33kV networks. From the 1st April 2023, our teams will be working across the southwest Chilterns, Borehamwood and the Bedford/Cambridge area.
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for someone to:
- Carrying out all work in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures of UK Power Networks.

Are you an experienced Multi Trade Operative, carpentry and plumbing, with extra skills such as tiling and plaster? Our Wiltshire team is looking for the right person to join their Response team.
What you’ll be doing
You’ve probably guessed, and you’re right, you’ll be completing carpentry and plumbing responsive repair works in our customers homes in the Wiltshire region. We’ll also call on your knowledge and experience to support the team with other skills Internally, you’ll be known as a carpenter level 2 or plumber level 2 depending on your main skillset.
You’ll be working in our customer’s homes, so you’ll have a customer service focus wanting to do a great job every time.
No two days are the same. You’ll carry out a number of jobs in a day with your work shared with you via your handheld device, your PDA. Primarily you’ll work alone but you’ll be part of the wider responsive repairs & voids team so there’s always someone at the end of the phone to support you.
About you
You’ll have a carpentry or plumbing qualification, NVQ or equivalent. You’ll be able to identify causes and specify materials required to rectify carpentry issues. You will also have additional skills such as being able to tile and plaster.
You’ll need to be a confident user of IT, your work is shared via an iPad and you’ll need to control & manage your van stock electronically.
You’ll be working with a variety of teams and communicating with them regularly, so you’ll be confident in managing expectations of both internal and external customers. As you’ll be in customers homes daily, you’ll understand the importance of delivering a great customer service and will endeavour to first fix at every opportunity.
We will supply a company vehicle to get you around, so you’ll need a full, UK manual driving licence. You’ll work in the Wiltshire area but may be required on occasion to support our other regional teams.

About You
You’ll be a fully qualified electrician, holding an AM2 qualification or equivalent, with demonstrable experience in domestic electrical installations. You will carry out inspection and testing to British standards to a set programme, advising on progress and completing all necessary records in hard and electronic files as required.
As an electrician, you’ll know that safety is priority therefore you’ll have knowledge and understanding of safety regulations and will carry out all works in line with this. You’ll also have a good understanding of health & safety regulations.
You’ll be motivated with a focus on customer service as you’ll be in our customers’ homes every day.
You will be customer facing, take pride in your work, have good problem solving and installation skills and be willing to become a key contributor to providing an excellent level of service and customer satisfaction.
You’ll also liaise with our internal colleagues to ensure works are completed and any ongoing works are logged appropriately. You’ll have a flexible approach to work with the ability to take part in an out of hours standby rota within your region.
You’ll be able to work effectively in a team and autonomously when necessary and have enthusiasm for providing excellent customer service and an ability to keep calm in difficult situations. Good communication skills both verbally and written are essential for this role. You will need to be willing and able to meet face fit requirements. As mentioned, you’ll be provided with a company van so you’ll need a full, UK driving licence.
