We are looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our 3rd Line Service Operations team who is able to work collaboratively with colleagues and our customer in an exciting and critical LAN/WAN environment. A key requirement of this role is to deliver technical service in a dynamic ITIL environment as well as incorporating Agile change delivery.

+ Demonstrable experience of Windows Server based infrastructure at an enterprise level.
+ Demonstrable experience of RedHat Linux OS based infrastructure as well as general Linux support skills
+ Experienced in the management and maintenance of VMWare based virtualised estates.
+ Deployment and support experience of Hyper Converged Infrastructure.
+ Management and troubleshooting of storage technologies including NetApp & Dell.
+ Management and troubleshooting of Active Directory within an on premise environment.
+ Development of a customer desktop build with a number of bespoke/legacy applications.
+ Packaging and deployment of applications.
+ Experience of Microsoft Exchange management & support from 2013 onwards.
+ Experience of MS SQL Server and SQL Database Clustering.
+ Experience of Veeam Backup technology.
+ Experience of Ivanti Device & Application Control implementation.
+ Experience of patch management including analysis and deployment.
+ Excellent communications and organisational skills as well as the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
+ Experience in ITIL ICT service delivery and SAFE Agile delivery of critical infrastructure.
+ Experience of working under pressure to meet deadlines while handling multiple priorities.
+ Understanding of the importance of stakeholder management and organisational acumen.
+ Demonstrable ability to adapt to new technologies, skillsets and to learn quickly.
+ Worked in a business or safety critical environment previously.

The L2 Network Engineer will cover management, maintenance and support of network infrastructure, perimeter security systems and network management platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Our client, a leading telecommunications provider, is looking for a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join their team in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK . This hybrid role offers a blend of working from home and in-office collaboration, allowing for flexibility while fostering team synergy. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex network infrastructures, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. This position demands a deep understanding of networking protocols, hardware, and software, along with strong problem-solving capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, configure, and deploy network solutions including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation.
  • Implement and maintain network security measures to protect against threats.
  • Develop and document network architecture, configurations, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate network solutions with other IT systems.
  • Plan and execute network upgrades and enhancements.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineers.
  • Stay updated on emerging networking technologies and industry best practices.
  • Manage vendor relationships and evaluate new network products.
  • Ensure network reliability and uptime through proactive monitoring and maintenance.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering.
  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and other routing protocols.
  • Experience with network hardware from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, or similar.
  • Familiarity with network security principles and technologies (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
  • Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios).
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment.
