Senior Driver Training Manager - Fleet Operations

Responsibilities:
- Develop, review, and continuously improve the driver training curriculum covering safe driving practices, regulatory compliance, customer service, and efficient delivery techniques.
- Oversee the delivery of driver training programs, both initial induction and ongoing professional development, utilising a variety of remote and potentially on-site methods.
- Manage and mentor a team of driver trainers, ensuring consistent quality and effectiveness of training delivery.
- Develop and maintain training materials, including presentations, manuals, and e-learning modules.
- Ensure all driver training programs comply with current legal and industry standards, including Driver CPC regulations.
- Analyse driver performance data and training feedback to identify areas for improvement and tailor training content.
- Collaborate with fleet operations managers and HR to address driver performance issues and implement corrective training plans.
- Manage the training budget and resources effectively.
- Stay current with evolving regulations, industry best practices, and emerging training technologies.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote a strong safety culture across the driver workforce.
- Oversee the record-keeping and administration of all training activities and certifications.
- Conduct train-the-trainer sessions to ensure trainers are up-to-date and competent.
- A strong background in driver training, fleet management, or operations within the transport and logistics industry.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a senior training or management role, with a focus on road transport.
- In-depth knowledge of UK driving regulations, CPC requirements, tachograph laws, and health & safety standards.
- Proven experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and adult learning methodologies.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to manage remote teams effectively.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to training evaluation.
- Proficiency in using training management systems (LMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- A professional training qualification (e.g., PTLLS, TAQA) or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently, manage a demanding workload, and travel occasionally as required for key meetings or site visits.

Our drivers are the beating heart of our business and you will play a vital role in ensuring customers receive their deliveries on time and with a great service.
Working on an Any 5 from 7 contract, our shift patterns will include some weekend working.
Making sure our customers are able to keep their shelves full with the products needed by their customers. Youll be loading stock in to the vehicle at the Branch and unloading at the customer premises. Youll also need to ensure the paperwork is completed accurately.
CatC / 18T Licence
Previous experience of driving (at least two years)
Previous experience of delivery driving is preferred
Ability to carry out manual deliveries
Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive customer service attitude
Good level of literacy and numeracy

As a Senior Driving Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality driving tuition to learners of all abilities, preparing them for their practical driving tests and beyond. You will need to demonstrate an exceptional understanding of the UK driving curriculum, traffic laws, and safe driving practices. You will also be responsible for ensuring your vehicle is maintained to the highest safety standards and complies with all DVSA regulations.

A full, clean UK driving licence and a current DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) registration are mandatory.
