Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and safe surf lessons for beginners, intermediates, and advanced surfers, adhering to all safety protocols and best practices.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the surf school, including scheduling, equipment maintenance, and inventory management.
- Lead, train, mentor, and supervise a team of surf instructors, ensuring consistent service quality and adherence to standards.
- Develop and implement lesson plans and surf training programs to cater to various skill levels and age groups.
- Ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained on the beach and within the surf school facilities.
- Manage customer bookings, inquiries, and feedback, ensuring a positive and memorable experience for all participants.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to promote surf school activities and attract new customers.
- Assist in the procurement and maintenance of surfboards, wetsuits, and other essential equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of lessons conducted, student progress, and equipment status.
- Contribute to the strategic growth and development of the surf school.
- Fully qualified surf instructor certification (e.g., ISA Level 2 or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience.
- Strong open-water swimming and lifesaving skills; valid lifesaving certification (e.g., RLSS Beach Lifeguard or equivalent) is essential.
- Proven experience in a leadership or management role within a surf school or watersports environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- A deep understanding of ocean conditions, surf forecasting, and risk assessment.
- Proficiency in managing operational logistics and staff schedules.
- Ability to motivate and inspire a team, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
- First Aid certification (valid).
- Passion for surfing, the ocean, and sharing the stoke with others.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays, as required by the seasonal nature of the business.
