We are delighted to be partnering with a highly regarded secondary school in Wandsworth, seeking to appoint a Student Support Worker to join their dedicated team immediately.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent English graduate (or related subject) who is eager to gain hands-on experience in education. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting classroom learning and delivering the school's targeted Reading Programme, designed to raise literacy levels and boost reading confidence across KS3 and KS4.

Responsibilities
  • Support students across a range of subjects, with a particular focus on literacy and written work.

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group sessions as part of the Reading Programme.

  • Assist in developing and implementing effective reading strategies, guided reading, and comprehension activities.

  • Monitor pupil engagement and progress, providing regular feedback to teaching staff and the SENCo.

  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students to enhance confidence and participation.

Ideal Candidate
  • A degree in English, English Literature, or a closely related subject.

  • A genuine passion for education, literacy, and supporting young people.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The Role

We are looking to recruit a part-time Student Support Officer, as part of the Student Services team, to help manage student enquiries during weekday evenings. 

You will work alongside a fellow Student Support Officer from 4pm until 9.30pm on the Information Helpdesk within the Ravensbourne campus as well as supporting other locations in our buildings. You will be working Monday to Thursday each week and this is a 0.6 FTE role. 
Please note, the hours for this role are fixed and Ravensbourne's flexible working hours policy does not apply to this role. 

You will be the face of Student Services during evening teaching and respond to queries from students who attend the helpdesk. You will also be expected to provide administrative support to the team as well as supporting work to log student absences. 

We are looking for a professional, supportive and welcoming presence to help students working in the evening feel connected to the support and processes at Ravensbourne. 

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have a good telephone manner and written English skills. 

Experience of working in education and in customer facing roles is desirable. It is essential that you demonstrate your ability to support customer needs and communicate in an effective and clear manner.
