The demand retrieval team within the Amazon DSP organisation deals with this challenge, developing and operating machine learning models that match ads opportunities with the most relevant ads to deliver the right messages to the right customers at the right time.
We are looking for an Applied Scientist to optimize ad matching for Amazon's programmatic advertisement products. In this role you will lead the design and implementation of solutions for performance sourcing, using behavioural information on customers' interactions with Amazon and other owned and operated businesses as well as contextual information about the bid request to predict their propensity to convert, in turn driving better advertising campaign outcomes. Your work will affect multi-billion dollar businesses, and you will be responsible for designing, testing and delivering significant breakthrough's for Amazon's business.

Key job responsibilities
* Design and implement deep learning models to match the right customers with the right ads across different verticals, geographies, and ads formats.

A day in the life

About the team
The Demand Retrieval team is responsible for designing, implementing, deploying and operating machine learning models that match bid opportunities to ads demand based on performance, campaign delivery, and targeting objectives specified by advertisers. We measure the success of our approaches based on offline experimentation and and online metrics that measure the impact of our matching models on campaign KPIs (e.g.: cost per action, return on ads investment, budgets delivered, and targeting precision).
Basic Qualifications
- PhD, or a Master's degree and experience in CS, CE, ML or related field research
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
- Experience in building machine learning models for business application
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

- Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or a Bachelor's degree and experience in quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance)

THE ROLE

The Business Director will play a crucial hybrid role in leading client services for our key brand and advertising accounts, as well as new business operations.

Requirements

  • You’ll lead the Client Services team to grow and lead key accounts across brand and advertising accounts.
  • You will use your client & account leadership experience to foster strong relationships and coordinate world class projects.
  • As the Brand building new business lead, you’ll be responsible for nurturing and pitch coordination to help us win new clients
  • You’ll be responsible for shaping the new business strategy to develop a robust new business pipeline.
  • Working with Hubspot CRM, you’ll relish tracking leads to sales across target prospects, working with our in-house marketing manager.
  • At times, you will lead the agency’s new business pitch process (with pitch teams) to secure new clients.
  • Comfortable managing global CMO and C-suite relationships.
  • Be well versed in the agency’s positioning, services and case studies to match both client and agency business objectives.

Key Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a senior client management role, preferably within an agency setting.
  • Proven experience of shaping and leading business development
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale projects and driving growth within client accounts.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Strong understanding of branding, advertising, and communications strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building long-lasting client relationships.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyse market trends and identify growth opportunities.
  • Ability to navigate complex client environments and display a proactive approach to problem-solving.

We are actively seeking a dynamic Director of Advertising Sales (EMEA)  who will play a pivotal role in spearheading the expansion and enhancement of EFG's global advertising revenue. In this capacity, you will lead the charge in building relationships with our advertising customers and their media agency partners. 

The Director of Advertising Sales (EMEA) role is fundamentally a commercial one, encompassing a strategic and operational blend of responsibilities. In this position, you will serve as the custodian of our vital business relationships with advertising customers and take charge of initiatives related to category diversification, account volume expansion, and revenue growth.

What you’ll do: 


Customer Engagement & Sales (60%)

  • Work alongside the SVP Sales to develop and implement the sales strategy in UK and other prirotised regions in EMEA
  • Build and lead a talented team of sales execs who are service and results orientated
  • Develop a roadmap for sales growth across regions, products and platforms
  • Responsible for building and maintaining territory ad revenue and exceeding quarterly and annual goals through strategic partnerships with brands and their media agencies
  • Represent EFG with a high level of integrity and knowledge and act as a resource for brands and agencies
  • Lead and inspire to achieve maximum performance; motivation and management will be critical to success, acting as a coach and mentor across the sales team
  • Spend time with customers to deeply understand their business needs and the opportunity that creates
  • Build a strong network of external contacts, resources, references and tools needed to develop customer opportunities

Strategy & Planning (25%)

  • Partner with the commercial operations team for annual revenue planning cycles
  • Own the category development strategy, account and quota allocation processes with an emphasis on long term thinking
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure the advertising team maintains its high profile and optimal operational rhythm
  • Work with C&D level decision makers at brands and their media agencies to secure high value and long term investment plans
  • Deliver the weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting mechanisms to commercial leadership
  • Keep current with changes in the industry and identify best practices that can be used to improve business outcomes

Operations (15%)

  • Create a culture of operational excellence to earn the trust of our customers and internal stakeholders 
  • Work closely with the advertising and commercial operations teams to ensure accurate pre sales inventory forecasting has high levels of accuracy and our campaigns deliver within designated thresholds
  • Design, implement and manage CRM hygiene protocols to deliver high levels of sales pipeline accuracy
  • Identify the causes of complexities and invent ways to simplify our sales processes and workflows
  • Work closely with pre and post sales support teams to help define standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the sales team
