We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer / Senior Civil Engineer to join us at our office in Bristol. We are looking for someone with expertise in civil engineering design to deliver multi-disciplinary projects for the entire lifecycle - from feasibility, concept and planning submission through to construction details and site inspections.
Our projects are varied and frequently require collaboration with multiple discipline experts across the business.
You will work with clients and contractors to influence infrastructure and development schemes and will be responsible for delivering projects with the opportunity to lead, development and support more junior team members.
As a key member if our Infrastructure team in Bristol, your role will involve the following:
+ Assisting a principal engineer on preparing drainage strategies, calculations and SuDs reports for planning.
+ Preparing plans and drawings at all stages of the development cycle (concept through to construction) as part of buildings team.
+ Design of Earthworks, Pavement and Drainage and the preparation of the associated specifications
+ Ensuring high quality delivery in design through QA checks
+ Liaise with Local Authorities and other stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals
+ Liaise with clients, third party bodies and multi-disciplinary teams and disciplines on all relevant aspects of projects
+ Assist during the construction stage, including site queries and inspections
+ Opportunity to grow the team and mentor junior engineers
**Key Requirements:**
You will be an experienced Civil Engineer, preferably degree qualified and will ideally be working towards professional qualifications.
You will have proven experience of delivering commercially successful projects with strong client engagement skills and the ability to influence. You will preferably have experience in coaching and managing junior engineers as well as the ability to collaborate with the wider project delivery team.
Experience in the following would be advantageous:
+ Degree qualified, working towards becoming chartered
+ A solid understanding of drainage, pavement design and SuDs
+ Experience of delivering commercially successful projects
+ Client (architect/contractor) engagement experience
+ Ability to input into meetings with third party authorities
+ Experience in drainage design, roads, car parks and cut & fill, etc
+ Good communication skills
+ Knowledge and experience of Microdrainge and AutoCAD
+ Experience of PDS and/or Civils 3D an advantage

+ Skills to prepare detailed drawings and undertake 3D modelling in AutoCAD/Civils 3D, or similar software.
+ Skills to prepare detailed drawings and undertake foul and surface water drainage modelling in InfoDrainage, or similar software.
+ A track record in producing high quality engineering drawings to company and industry standards with the ability to manage the delivery of high-volume drawing production.
+ ONC/HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering (or in training towards) with experience in highway, utilities or drainage projects.
+ An understanding of highway, utilities and drainage design principles (layout, etc.) and a willingness to learn design skills using the latest industry software.
+ Basic knowledge of BIM standards and protocols.
+ Ability to work across the team in producing designs and drawings.
+ Good written and spoken communication skills are important to engage effectively with co-professionals and be able to work as part of a team.
