Job Title: Airframe / Aerospace Fitter - Hourly Paid (up to 17.07 PH after probation)
Location: Manchester (East)
About the Role
Are you looking for a fresh challenge with a forward-thinking organisation in the high-tech engineering sector? We are recruiting experienced Airframe Fitters to join a well-established aerospace manufacturer at their purpose-built facility in Dukinfield.
As an Airframe Fitter, you will play a key role in assembling metallic aerospace structures, ensuring all operations are carried out to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out assembly operations in line with Standard Operating Procedures and aerospace quality standards.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Operate tools and equipment safely, ensuring all are correctly calibrated.
Perform key processes including drilling, countersinking, riveting, sealant application, and fitting of helicoils, bearings, and bushes.
Demonstrate practical skills through a trade test (2nd stage interview).
Essential Requirements
Aerospace airframe/structural assembly experience, ideally within the aerospace sector.
Strong ability to read and understand technical drawings and aerospace specifications.
Commitment to safe working practices and compliance with 5S standards.
Proficiency in a range of aerospace fitting processes.
Working Hours
Standard hours can be compressed into a four-day working week : Monday - Thursday, 7:00am - 4:30pm.
Overtime: first 10 hours paid at 1.5x hourly rate , any additional hours at double time .

THE COMPANY
My client specializes in the manufacturing of complex fabrication and precision machined components, including gas turbine engines. They serve customers around the world in commercial and military aviation, power generation, the marine industry, rotary wing, and unmanned aerial vehicles. Due to a significant increase in orders, they need to recruit several Aerospace Fitters.
THE JOB
The Aerospace Fitters will be responsible for fitting, maintaining, and repairing aircraft engine components. Working hands-on, efficiently and to high quality standards, you will be working alongside and supporting other key business areas across the site.
The Aerospace Fitters essential duties and responsibilities under direct supervision will include:
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Participate in a positive and proactive EHS culture across the site.
- Manually fit parts to required customer standards and aircraft standards, including inspection of braze joints.
- Ability to understand, interpret and work to Engineering drawings and to work to tight tolerances.
- Checking of components to verify conformity, using tooling and other measuring devices.
- Ability to use measuring equipment and inspection fixtures to ensure component conformity to drawing requirements.
- General maintenance of machinery, jigs and fixtures is required to ensure a clean, safe and healthy working environment.
- Offer improvements to methods of inspection of product whilst developing best practice techniques.
- Check parts for accurate measurements and finish pieces where necessary.
- Sharing knowledge and experience and support coaching and mentoring to new employees and apprentices.
- Support and participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives across Shop Operations. (I.e. Yellow Belt LEAN Manufacturing, 6S initiatives, cost reductions, housekeeping)
- To perform any other duties that may be necessary to meet departmental objectives.

- Team Player with the ability to work alone and use own initiative with minimum supervision.
- Flexible approach to working various shift patterns
- Flexible approach to working across multiple departments
- Willingness to be trained across departments, supporting flexible working requirements
- Pro-active approach to the future success of the business
- Knowledge and experience on high temperature alloys is a distinct advantage
