Vertpaint is looking for a Real-Time VFX Artist with Unreal Engine experience to join our growing team of artists and designers working on visually rich, atmospheric worlds.
About the Role
We’re seeking someone with a strong grasp of real-time visual effects and an eye for realism/cinematic detail. You’ll work closely with our weapon, environment and gameplay teams to craft dynamic, immersive VFX that bring our worlds to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Create real-time water effects (shoreline interactions, rainfall, splashes, etc.)
- Develop muzzle flash and black powder discharge effects for 19th-century firearms
- Design realistic blood and gore FX for gameplay and cinematics
- Build environmental effects , such as fog, embers, debris, smoke, and wind-driven elements
- Optimize effects for performance in Unreal Engine 5
- Collaborate with the art direction team to maintain a cohesive visual tone
Requirements
- Proven experience creating real-time VFX in Unreal Engine (Niagara essential)
- Strong understanding of shaders, materials, and particle systems
- Ability to balance realism and stylization to match art direction
- Good communication skills and comfort working in a fully remote setup

VFX Artist (2 Month FTC) - Mobile Title – 100% Remote working (From the UK)
A South-East based Games studio are currently looking for a VFX Artist to work on a new innovative mobile title, which they’re aiming to dominate its genre. Founded by established industry experts, the team are made up of award-winning developers who have a history of releasing a range of high-quality games, some of which have been adored in the games industry.
The studio requires this person to work closely with the CTO and Art Director and work on hands-on VFX creation and in-engine implementation. The role will have you focusing on a few areas, but mainly working on in-game VFX/animations for this new title, the game is very collectable heavy, so you’ll be working on creating slick animations for battles, power ups and pack/box opening.
The game will be exciting and fast paced, so part of your role must ensure that the visuals are smooth and lag free. This role can offer a chance to own quite a large area of the art side and would suit someone who enjoys working in a small team.
In return the studio can offer fully remote working from anywhere in the UK, Private Medical Insurance, a generous Holiday Allowance, Quarterly Team/Fun days and access to multiple onsite hubs, for days you want to collaborate in person.
This is a 2-month FTC with the possibility of turning into a permanent contract.
Requirements
