Responsibilities:
- Lead and conduct research on advanced horticultural techniques to improve crop yield, quality, and resource efficiency.
- Develop and optimise cultivation strategies for a range of horticultural crops, including controlled environment agriculture (CEA) systems.
- Investigate and implement innovative solutions for plant nutrition, irrigation management, and pest/disease control.
- Utilise data analytics and sensor technologies to monitor crop health, environmental conditions, and optimise growing parameters.
- Design and execute field trials and greenhouse experiments to validate new horticultural practices and technologies.
- Collaborate with plant breeders, agronomists, and engineers to integrate new varieties and technologies into cultivation systems.
- Stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements, market trends, and regulatory changes in the horticultural industry.
- Prepare technical reports, research proposals, and scientific publications.
- Provide expert advice and technical support to internal teams and external partners.
- Mentor junior scientists and contribute to the development of the company's scientific capabilities.
The ideal candidate will hold a Master's or Ph.D. in Horticulture, Plant Science, Agronomy, or a related field. A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in horticultural research and development, with a strong focus on sustainable production systems, is essential. Proven expertise in areas such as controlled environment agriculture (CEA), hydroponics, or vertical farming is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of plant physiology, crop nutrition, and integrated pest management is required. Experience with data analysis and statistical software is necessary. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical for research dissemination and remote collaboration. Ability to work independently, manage research projects, and drive innovation autonomously is key. This role is based in Southampton, Hampshire, UK , but operates on a fully remote basis.

You're an experienced agricultural machinery sales professional aspiring to work for a manufacturer of award winning, innovative farming technologies.
In this role, you will be tasked with developing distribution opportunities among dealerships throughout the territory. You will manage the full sales process from initial contact through to aftersales and relationship management.
You'll benefit from working for a premium brand with a respected product portfolio.
The role will give you plenty of autonomy. While an existing ledger would be desirable, the role will utilise your ability to gather key market insights and feed into the company's wider commercial strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and nurture new business relationships across a substantial territory.
Play a key collaborative role alongside sales, marketing and senior management teams.
Build and maintain strong relationships with dealers, distributors, and key accounts.
Develop and implement strategic plans to grow market share and increase brand visibility.
Maintain a consistent presence at trade shows, exhibitions, and on-farm demos to showcase product range.
Provide market insights to inform product development and marketing efforts.
Ensure excellent customer support and service delivery.
Contribute towards regular technical visits to market-leading manufacturing facility.
Your profile:
Proven agricultural machinery sales experience would be a clear advantage. Recent technical sales experience in an allied sector is a minimum requirement.
An existing ledger would be preferred.
Sound technical understanding/interest in agricultural machinery.
Ability to drive sales growth.
Build longstanding customer relationships.
Embrace and contribute towards a strong team ethic.
Full driving license.
