I'm currently recruiting on behalf of a global freight forwarder that's looking for a dynamic and commercially driven Branch Manager to lead its Southampton office .

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced freight forwarding BDM ready to take the next step into branch leadership, an established Branch Manager looking for a new challenge, or a strong Supervisor who's ready to step up into a senior position.

What They're Looking For:

• Solid experience within freight forwarding (import/export, multi-modal ideally)

• Strong business development background and a track record of winning new clients

• Commercial acumen and the ability to lead both sales and operational activities

• A hands-on leadership style with a passion for team development and branch growth

The successful candidate will be expected to drive both sales and day-to-day operations. While the company plans to hire a dedicated BDM in the near future, you'll initially be the main commercial lead for the branch - playing a key part in laying the groundwork for its continued expansion.

About the Role
We are seeking an operational & commercially astute Operations Director with proven experience working directly within a UK-based freight forwarding company. The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of air, sea, and road import/export operations, combined with full P&L responsibility. This senior leadership role will drive operational excellence, financial performance, and strategic growth at one of our key regional branches.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide decisive leadership and strategic oversight of branch operations.
• Manage and develop a high-performing team to ensure smooth multimodal freight forwarding processes across air, sea, and road.
• Take full ownership of P&L, safeguarding existing revenue while driving sustainable, profitable growth.
• Collaborate closely with the Operations Manager to coordinate daily activities and resolve operational issues.
• Prepare, review, and analyse monthly financial and operational reports in partnership with the Group Operations Director.
