Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to production and assembly output, taking the lead on more technical builds.
  • Create and maintain routing instructions for works orders, ensuring operators have clear build processes and records.
  • Support new product builds and standardise work through process instructions and Quality Care Points.
  • Carry out assembly assessments, ensuring work areas and tooling are set up correctly.
  • Assist in training Operations staff on safe and correct use of tools, equipment, and assembly processes.
  • Manage label creation and printing using IT systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment and maintain service records.
  • Support inspection activities when required (Goods In and customer-specific Goods Out).
  • Follow all Health & Safety and Quality standards at all times.

  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical production processes.
  • Awareness or certification in:
  • IPC-J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 HSD tinning
  • NASA-STD soldered electrical connections
  • BS-EN-IEC solderless and crimped connections
  • Confident IT skills with good literacy and numeracy.
  • Familiarity with MRP systems (desirable).

You will join our small, efficient Production team (currently a team of 5) and will have the chance to work on high-end precision Water Purification devices which are built to the highest standards and shipped to a number of customers globally.

As Production Technician you will support the timely output and production of products in line with required standards. The successful candidate will be able to follow clear work instructions, have excellent attention to detail and have an energetic positive approach to the role. Previous experience within a production environment is desired, but full training will be given. Experience of product testing in a production environment will be a distinct advantage.

About the role

Some of the things you will be doing if you join us:

  • Assemble and test all products, electrical, mechanical or electro/mechanical as required by the demands identified via the production build forecasts and the sales demands.
  • Carry out all duties in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that best practice is maintained at all times.
  • Maintenance of health and safety and 5S in areas of responsibility.
  • Maintenance of Management System procedures for the areas of responsibility that demonstrate compliance with the specified requirements of BS ISO9001.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work on own initiative and take a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Application of team working ethics at all times and ensuring support for other/all members of the Production Team and related departments.
  • Involvement in packing and despatch.
  • Assist in the introduction of new products and processes.
  • Ensure all non-conformances, quality and assembly issues are informed to the Operations Delivery Manager in a timely manner.
  • Assist with product training for team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

We're keen to bring new people and ideas into the team; we don't have a list of mandatory qualifications or skills to be considered for the role, although you'll already be a skilled production/assembly employee with demonstrable experience of working in production environment using basic hand tools. However,
some or all of the following could be expected of you:

  • Able to complete tasks with minimal supervision given work instructions and or training on a wide range of assembly tasks, with good attention to detail.
  • Team player; maintains a positive attitude to work, showing respect for other staff and visitors.
  • Excellent English skills, both verbal and written
  • IT literate
  • Mechanical/electrical experience; an electro/mechanical engineering qualification is desired
  • Experience of manual handling
  • Willingness to learn and contribute

Typical production working times are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm.

We are recruiting for 2x Interns to join us in:

  • Pre-Assembly

The Pre-Assembly Team runs the sub-assembly stations of our production line. It is a fast paced, cross-functional environment where you will gain hands on experience with the build of a motorcar, managing problems that arise from it and delivering fully built sub-assembled sections to other stations on the production line. All whilst ensuring our cost, quality and time targets are achieved.

Our team consists of about 100 members, across 4 job roles. We're proactive and enthusiastic, and we drive change with our process partners to ensure the products we build are as perfect as our customer's demand. It is a fast paced and complex environment.

  • New Model Launch

The New Model Launch Team (Launch Team) ensures all products are integrated into the existing production system with minimal impact to KPIs. It is a fast paced, cross-functional environment where you will gain hands on experience preparing diligently for a motorcar build, managing it and delivering fully built motorcars; all whilst ensuring our cost, quality and time targets are achieved.

Our team consists of about 50 members, across 5 job roles. We're proactive and enthusiastic, and we drive change with our process partners to ensure the products we build are as perfect as our customer's demand. It is a fast paced and complex environment.

What awaits you?

  • Play an active role in supporting our team with improving parts, product and/or processes to better meet our needs. This involves defining root cause, experimenting and implementing solutions.
  • Involvement in implementing business process improvements (namely digitalisation and KPI creation). This will involve process mapping, reporting on performance and continuously improving them.
  • All of this comes along side supporting our daily stand-up meetings with the wider team.
  • This role will keep you highly visible within the wider organisation. Every day will be challenging, with a dynamic landscape of tasks.

What should you bring along?

  • Externally studying a Bachelor's or integrated Master's degree, and on track to achieve a 2:2 or above in a relevant Mechanical / Automotive Engineering degree, from Universities with a strong connection to industry.
  • Must be comfortable working with instability, uncertainty, constant change and ambiguity in a dynamic environment.
  • Desirable – Experience with collaboration software such as (Microsoft Office 365, Jira/Confluence) and basic data analysis.
  • Problem solving, time management and communication skills shown through involvement in projects and activities undertake at university and in your spare time.
