The Overhead Line Worker role:
We’re seeking an Overhead Line Worker to work on the overhead electricity network. As part of a skilled team, you’ll take on construction, maintenance, inspection, and fault-finding activities in line with your level of authorisation.
The Overhead Line Worker will work on the 132kV/33kV overhead network, including construction, refurbishment, fault location, and repairs—during both normal hours and out-of-hours as part of a 24-hour standby rota. You’ll also help maintain and inspect overhead plant to ensure ongoing reliability.
What We’re Looking For
• LE1 grade or equivalent with DNO experience on 132kV/33kV transmission systems (erection & wiring)
• City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering
• Authorisation to receive safety documents and apply additional/drain earths
• Strong understanding of safety systems and risk assessments
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weathers & antisocial hours
• Team player, well-organised, and able to complete work documentation
Desirable
• Wood pole experience (33kV) & trident construction (132kV)
• HGV licence
• DNO LV & HV overhead authorisations
• Experience operating plant
• Street works qualification
