Contract term: Full time, permanent

Role overview:

The Lead 2nd XI Coach / Assistant Coach will be responsible for coaching and managing the 2nd XI team during competitive fixtures, while also supporting the delivery of high-quality coaching and mentoring across all players.

Working closely with the Head Coach and Academy Director, the role will contribute to the ongoing development of players throughout the academy and into professional teams.

This is a full-time position that requires a flexible approach, including regular evening and weekend commitments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

2nd XI

· Plan and deliver the 2nd XI training programme, including scheduling fixtures and leading training sessions.

· Oversee match preparation, contribute to selection discussions, and manage the team during games.

· Provide individual technical and tactical coaching to support player development.

· Lead on performance analysis, feedback, and player reviews to drive improvement.

· Collaborate with medical, S&C, and performance staff to ensure holistic player welfare and progression.

· Support talent identification and maintain a database of eligible players for the 2nd XI.

· Support with Triallist identification, communication and logistics.

Academy

· Assist the Academy Director in sessions throughout the Winter, and at other times of the year if required.

· Assist in mentoring players on technical, tactical, physical and mental aspects of performance.

· Assist in talent identification and recruitment.

Requirements

Person Specification:

Essential

• ECB Level 3 (or working towards Level 4) coaching qualification, or international equivalent.

• Proven experience of coaching within a high-performance cricket environment.

• Strong technical and tactical knowledge of the game across formats.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.

• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Desirable

• Previous playing or coaching experience in professional cricket.

• Experience in talent identification and youth development.

• Understanding of modern performance analysis tools and technology.

• Knowledge of physical preparation and sports psychology in cricket.

You will need to have the Right to Work in the UK or be able to obtain this by the start date. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

The salary for this role is up to £45,000 per annum.

  • Good understanding of coaching principles and sports development.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A positive, energetic, and responsible attitude.
  • Willingness to undertake further coaching qualifications and professional development.
  • First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • Relevant sports qualifications or certifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures is highly desirable.
