The Opportunity

As an Associate Project Manager, you will act as the key interface between client and delivery team — providing strategic oversight, commercial guidance, and leadership across the full project lifecycle. Working within a respected consultancy environment, you’ll manage stakeholder expectations, contribute to strategic project planning, and oversee governance on multiple concurrent schemes, from feasibility through to completion.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Leading client engagement and reporting, ensuring clear communication and aligned expectations throughout.
  • Managing feasibility assessments including site evaluations, business case input, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Controlling project financials: cash flow forecasts, payment recommendations, and alignment with client budgets.
  • Overseeing key contract administration duties and ensuring adherence to JCT, NEC, or FIDIC frameworks.
  • Producing and maintaining programme documentation, risk registers, and project governance materials.
  • Delivering accurate, tailored reporting across RIBA stages and project phases to keep stakeholders informed.
  • Supporting the growth of junior team members and contributing to business development where appropriate.

About You

  • Degree qualified in a construction-related discipline (BSc/MSc)
  • Chartered or working towards (RICS, APM, CIOB)
  • Proven experience within a construction consultancy or client-side environment
  • Strong leadership, commercial acumen, and stakeholder management skills
  • Background delivering commercial or healthcare projects is desirable
  • Comfortable administering major contracts (JCT, NEC, FIDIC)

+ Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Maths (STEM) or similar disciplines;
+ Undertaken and obtained NEC accreditation in Project Management;
+ Membership of professional institutions, preferably Chartered;
+ A record of delivering complex, high-risk projects successfully including working on large infrastructure projects and programmes. A background in water, linear infrastructure and/or environmental projects would be beneficial, but our focus is upon your ability and desire to develop your project management career to its full potential and demonstrate transferability.
+ Demonstrate competence in stakeholder management, risk, planning/scheduling, and commercial management.
+ Proficiency in use of project management tools and software;
+ Evidence of higher attainment and professional development in project management or current field
+ Demonstrable experience in a collaborative integrated delivery team.

Your new role

·Lead and manage a high-performing team, including Engineers and Commercial staff, fostering a collaborative, solution-focused culture.
·Ensure the safe and efficient delivery of projects to agreed quality, time, cost, and compliance standards.
·Oversee projects from inception through to handover, including scoping, planning, construction, handover, and managing any post-completion activities.
·Champion Health & Safety best practices, CDM compliance, and 'Zero Harm' behaviours through audits, reviews, and leadership.
·Work closely with Planning and Commercial teams to manage accurate forecasting of cost and resources, escalating issues where necessary.
·Drive collaboration within the Alliance and with wider stakeholders to promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
·Ensure robust governance is maintained, delivering key project milestones such as Project Rehearsals and Fit for Assembly processes.
·Promote innovative, safe, and commercially viable solutions to meet project and client objectives.

What We're Looking For:
·Strong project management experience within the water sector or complex infrastructure environments.
·Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, CDM, and drinking water standards.
·Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams in a performance-driven, collaborative environment.
·Strong understanding of NEC Option C contracts and commercial frameworks.
·Ability to think strategically while empowering and supporting your team operationally.
·IOSH qualification as a minimum.
·APMP (or similar Project Management Qualification) is highly desirable.
·Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and drive best outcomes.
