Role: Technical Production Manager

Contract: 6 Month FTC

Hours: 40 Hours, Monday - Friday

Location: Hybrid, Kings Cross

The Award-Winning team at SIDE UK is looking for a passionate Production Manager to join our crew within our Speech Tech department.

While SIDE has built a world-class reputation over the past 25 years producing dialogue for blockbuster game titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Hitman III, Returnal, and It Takes Two, this role is rooted in our fast-growing speech technology and datasets division.

We are currently looking for a Technical Production Manager to join our team. As a Technical Production Manager you will be responsible for the smooth running of voice production across multiple tech & digital media projects. You will be working with several major global clients for which you need to ensure a high-quality service is always delivered. The ideal candidate for this role is excited about what we do, who we are and is ready to be a part of our growing business.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare initial production cost estimates for clients based on their brief
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates as the client’s brief expands, and early script information becomes available
  • Take the first pass of client, vendor and talent contracts to pick up obvious errors or points for negotiation
  • Where necessary, source and negotiate fees with partner studios in requested territories
  • Prepare and maintain a project schedule for the recording
  • Prepare recording scripts and oversee preparation of assets such as sessions, audio and video reference files for voice talent, directors, and studio engineers, along with any other essentials
  • Brief recording studio teams about the production, using your expertise answer their questions
  • Track the progress of the recording sessions throughout, updating schedules, voice talent, director, and studio bookings
  • Integrate script updates and changes throughout the production and adjust schedules accordingly
  • Track the progress of final asset deliverables, by coordinating with the company’s audio delivery team making sure the client’s best practices are adhered to
  • Track all costs and handle all queries and issues arising
  • Liaise with the client throughout to keep them informed and follow up on any concerns
  • Make sure that all QA and editing is completed to the highest standards and to schedule
  • Devise new plans and suggestions for workflow improvements and efficiencies either through the use of process changes or new potential tools
  • Develop tools and advanced Excel spreadsheets to enable more effective ways of working.

Requirements

  • 3 years’ experience in a role requiring a similar overall project management/project coordinator skill set. 
  • 3 years’ experience in a role with responsibility for multiple budgets in excess of £50,000 each. 
  • Experienced knowledge and user of Microsoft Excel, comfortable using VBA within Excel to a high level – ideally with knowledge of other programming languages such as Python. 
  • Experienced user or advanced knowledge of audio technology such as AVID Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, iZotope etc. 
  • Experience working with a large number of files across multiple projects and languages. 
  • The ability to strategize and allocate resources for upcoming projects. 
  • Excellent client facing and internal communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Both a self-starter, able to work alone as and where necessary, and a team player, able to muck in at all levels to get the job done. 
  • Comfortable both taking instruction from senior members of staff and giving instruction to junior members of staff.

Responsibilities: 

  • Define and maintain the audio vision for the project in collaboration with the wider development team.

  • Create and implement sound effects, dialogue, and music in Unreal Engine using tools such as Blueprints, audio cues, and attenuation settings.

  • Work with industry-standard middleware (Wwise, FMOD) to ensure audio is optimized and fully integrated.

  • Collaborate closely with design, art, and narrative teams to ensure audio supports and enhances gameplay.

  • Coordinate and provide feedback to external audio partners, composers, and voice talent.

  • Ensure consistent audio quality, style, and performance across the entire game.

  • Troubleshoot and optimize audio assets for performance and memory constraints.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience as an Audio Lead or Senior Sound Designer on at least one shipped AAA/AA or high-quality indie title.

  • Strong Unreal Engine audio implementation experience (blueprints, audio cues, attenuation settings, etc.).

  • Strong portfolio/reel demonstrating high-quality sound design and integration.

  • Deep knowledge of audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD) and DAWs (Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Reaper, etc.).

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.

  • Passion for games and understanding of how audio impacts player experience.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • A degree in Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering or an associated discipline
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma methodologies
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to propose practical, well-engineered solutions
  • Proficiency in a professional 3D CAD package such as Creo Parametric
  • Able to construct and interpret 3D solid models and 2D engineering drawings with correct tolerancing and dimensioning
  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes including woodwork, metal fabrication and injection moulding
  • Practical workshop and basic machining skills; physically able to handle assembly tasks in line with H&S requirements
  • Familiarity with PLM systems for document control and change management
  • Experience working with ERP systems, including parts and assemblies - BOM creation experience is beneficial, but not essential

Job Conditions:

This is a full-time position of 37.5 hours per week over the standard working hours of 8.45am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.45am to 4pm on Friday. An hour is allowed for lunch Monday to Thursday and 45 minutes on Friday.
