As an Automotive Service Technician, you will work on a variety of makes and models, utilising advanced diagnostic equipment and tools to identify and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues. You will conduct routine servicing, inspections, and pre-delivery checks, as well as perform in-depth repairs. This role demands a meticulous approach, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance services, including oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles using advanced diagnostic tools.
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and identify any potential issues or necessary repairs.
- Perform engine diagnostics, repair, and rebuilding.
- Service and repair braking systems, suspension systems, and steering components.
- Diagnose and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
- Carry out electrical system diagnostics and repairs.
- Replace worn or faulty parts and components.
- Ensure all work is completed to manufacturer standards and within estimated timeframes.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and workshop procedures.
- Accurately document all work performed, including parts used and time taken.
- Communicate effectively with service advisors regarding vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programmes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience as an Automotive Service Technician or Mechanic.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualification/experience.
- Strong diagnostic skills and proficiency with automotive diagnostic equipment.
- Broad knowledge of vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience with specific vehicle brands may be an advantage.
- A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
