General Engineer (Warship Aviation Services)

As a engineer within the Aviation Services team, maintain and develop aviation services within compartment design and integration activities for aviation systems within the warship programme.
The role holder will require knowledge and experience of naval and / or commercial ship outfit systems with the experience to support system and spatial integration issues with other disciplines.
Experience with CAD software like AutoCAD or FORAN is desirable.
Core Activity
The engineer will assist and support the engineering effort for the integration of aviation systems within the Hunter Class programme.
Develop an understanding in ship aviation engineering and wider shipbuilding to support the aviation team deliver all aspects of engineering activity within the business to ensure defined objectives are achieved whilst continually maintaining quality and cost.
The role holder will require knowledge and experience of naval and / or commercial ship systems with experience to support system and spatial integration issues with other disciplines.
Aviation includes the design integration of:-
The aircraft handling system, landing aids and aviation systems
Design or modification of aviation compartments and services
Development of the aviation safety case and creation of contractual documents.
Key Accountabilities
Tasks and Activities:
Produce layout drawings in 2D CAD of aviation compartments for review by stakeholders and to allow Stage 2 detailed design to correctly model these spaces.
Support/ Maturity Evidence for Design Reviews and Zonal Reviews • Compartment Layout Drawings by mature Parts and Occurrences
Update technical equipment specifications for aviation systems and co-ordinate with suppliers to ensure delivery to the agreed specification.
Update Windchill PLM with parts, systems, occurrences and compartment data to ensure it correctly presents the baseline design.
Co-ordinate with systems engineers and detail designers on the integration of aviation systems both within BAE and with other partners in the programme.
Key Outputs/Deliverables:
Compartment layout drawings
Maturity evidence for design reviews and zonal reviews
Mature parts and occurrences
Technical reports and documentation
Input to safety reviews.

Reporting into the Production Manager, the Bay Manager is directly responsible for the management of Base Maintenance functions contained within the organisation's approval.
Main responsibilities:
- To ensure that contracted customer requirements are met at all times, and to ensure that full compliance with the contracted customer requirements are included as part of the final CRS process conducted prior to CRS Issue.
- Ensures an efficient and cost-effective service during the overhaul/repair of the aircraft while complying with airworthiness and statutory requirements.

- Ensures the implementation and observance of the company Health and Safety Policy, Procedures and Processes are maintained at all times.
- In the absence of the Production Manager, the Bay Manager is the main point of contact for internal and external Quality Audits of those areas and functions under their responsibility.
- Ensures that all staff follow Company Procedures when carrying out tasks on and off aircraft.
- Responsible for monitoring and ensuring that company and customer property is adequately housed, secured and maintained.
- Overall responsibility and accountability for any allocated maintenance input and allocated bay, not limited, to but including check progress (Time, Quality, Resources and Costs).
- Responsible for assuring timely execution of maintenance tasks in line with the agreed plan, whilst maintaining all associated company and legislative regulations.
- Attends pre-input meetings related to projects and maintenance input assigned to their respective bay.

- Responsible for completion of the CRS at the end of check.
- Maintains track of tooling and equipment used in their bay.
- Monitors the competencies of staff, taking the necessary actions with the relevant support departments to ensure the assigned workforce is well trained and competent in their tasks, following Caerdav standard processes and procedures.

- 5 years' experience within an aviation MRO Part 145 (or equivalent) environment
- Extensive knowledge of aviation regulations (EASA Part 145, Part 147, Part 66, Part 21, Part M)
- Holds UK and/or EASA Part 66 B and C Licence approval on one or more of our types.
- License holder must have the ability to obtain CRS approval as required for CRS duties on aircraft types.
- Experience managing teams within a Part 145 base maintenance environment.
