Our client, a major player in the aviation sector, is seeking an experienced Lead Category Manager specializing in Aviation Services to join their procurement team. This is a crucial remote role, allowing you to manage a significant spend portfolio from anywhere in the UK, contributing directly to the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of our global aviation operations. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic sourcing strategies for a diverse range of aviation-related services, including ground handling, maintenance, IT services, and crew welfare. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in aviation procurement, strong negotiation acumen, and the ability to foster collaborative relationships with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies for aviation services, aligning with operational needs and financial targets.
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing activities, including market analysis, supplier selection, RFx processes, negotiation, and contract management.
  • Manage and optimize contracts with key aviation service providers, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met and costs are controlled.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Aviation Management, or a related field. MCIPS or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in strategic sourcing and category management, with a strong focus on the aviation industry or related complex services procurement.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large spend categories and delivering substantial cost savings.
  • In-depth knowledge of aviation services procurement, including contracts, SLAs, and regulatory considerations.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong understanding of risk management in supply chains.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote team environment.

  • Current Human factor initial and refresher, EWIS and SFAR 88 certificate
  • Knowledge of aeronautical regulations
  • Must have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
  • Be able to successful complete MOD security clearance
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience on A400M, Airbus, Propeller or Wide body Aircraft
