Key Responsibilities


  • Carry out modifications and maintenance in accordance with approved drawings and maintenance data, taking full accountability for the technical integrity of all work performed

  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics and regulatory requirements
  • Loom manufacture and testing
  • Support avionics system testing, validation and troubleshooting
  • Maintain the highest standards of tool control within the work area

  • Completed an engineering apprenticeship, ideally in aeronautical engineering or military equivalent
  • Excellent knowledge of avionics systems

**Job Description**
The MPTF Systems Engineering team helps solve exciting problems including using advanced analytical tools to validate safe, efficient and operational performance-led solutions. The MPTF Systems Engineer is involved throughout the design, installation and commissioning of dedicated test-beds. You will use and develop your key skills, knowledge and practical experience to design and specify test equipment and systems, create test scenarios, manage test operations, and analyse resultant test data thereby supporting the delivery of class leading Power System solutions. The role provides a key technical expertise interface to the customer.
**In this role you will** :

Who we're looking for:

We’re seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead critical electrical infrastructure upgrades and develop a robust database system to support Industry 4.0 transformation.


As an Electrical Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing electrical engineering projects from conception to completion, applying electrical standards and governance to ongoing CAPEX and transformation projects. You will work closely with the Site Electrical Standards and Governance Manager.


This role involves the full project life cycle, implementing, and maintaining electrical tendering, installations, processes, and components to meet project specifications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage project timelines and budgets, and ensure that all electrical engineering aspects align with safety and quality standards.


Role Duties & Responsibilities - Electrical Systems Project Manager


  • Lead the design, installation, and commissioning of all electrical infrastructure projects on site
  • Develop and implement electrical standards ensuring compliance with legislation, safety regulations, and best practices
  • Create and manage a site-wide electrical database, enabling data-driven decisions, predictive maintenance, and digital asset management
  • Oversee the electrical elements of the full project life cycle—from feasibility studies and CAPEX planning to delivery and handover
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and IT teams to integrate digital solutions
  • Manage contractors, budgets, and timelines, ensuring projects are delivered on time, in full
  • Lead electrical and control system projects from concept to completion, ensuring robust design, installation, and commissioning
  • Maintain and improve site electrical standards, ensuring compliance with legislation, safety requirements, and best practice
  • Oversee the electrical elements of CAPEX and infrastructure projects
  • Serve as the technical authority for electrical systems, design reviews, and project risk assessments
  • Developing project plans, including scope, budget, schedule, and resource requirements
  • Conducting feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential project challenges


Role Requirements - Electrical Systems Project Manager


  • Degree/HNC in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience in electrical project management within an FMCG or high-volume time time-sensitive, complex manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of electrical compliance, safety standards, and legislation
  • Demonstrated ability to work with digital electrical systems, databases, or automation technologies to modernise manufacturing operations
  • Proven project management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong knowledge of electrical standards, legislation, and safe systems of work
  • Experience delivering automation, control systems, or electrical infrastructure projects

Overview:


A leading organisation in the maritime and defence communications industry is seeking a System Design Engineer to join their engineering team. This role involves working on advanced satellite communication and IT management systems , producing high-quality electrical and mechanical designs to international standards.


Main Purpose of the Role:


The System Design Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and document electrical and mechanical system designs , ensuring compliance with relevant standards and delivering precise, production-ready drawings for complex technical projects.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Produce detailed 2D and 3D electrical and mechanical design drawings in line with ISO standards.
  • Develop design concepts from first principles , integrating technical and manufacturing considerations.
  • Create and manage STEP files for client and production use.
  • Ensure designs comply with EU directives , electrical safety regulations , and EMC/LVD standards .
  • Apply and maintain compliance with standards such as BS7671 (18th edition) , BS ) , and the Electricity at Work Act .
  • Design and document control panels and 19” rack systems .
  • Produce Visio drawings and schematic documentation to support engineering and project activities.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of CAD software tools for engineering design.
  • Liaise with engineering, production, and project management teams to ensure design integrity and manufacturability.

Decision-Making & Autonomy:


  • Take ownership of design tasks from concept through to completion.
  • Apply sound engineering judgement and proactively resolve technical challenges.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Escalate issues appropriately while maintaining responsibility for follow-through.


Experience, Skills & Qualifications:


Essential:


  • HND/HNC, apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering .
  • Minimum 4–5 years’ experience producing high-quality engineering drawings.
  • Strong background in electrical/systems design and familiarity with regulatory environments.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or comparable CAD tools.
  • Understanding of manufacturing techniques and material properties .
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC) .
  • Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office applications .


Desirable:


  • Experience with SEE Electrical , ETAP , or similar CAD packages.
  • Knowledge of EMC/LVD compliance , electrical enclosure design , and maritime/defence applications .
  • Familiarity with system integration and technical documentation standards .
