**Purpose**
The Standards Verifier plays a key role in maintaining the integrity and consistency of vocational qualifications by ensuring that assessment and internal verification practices meet national standards. This involves providing expert subject-specific support to centres, conducting sampling and verification activities, delivering clear and constructive feedback, and contributing to the ongoing development of quality assurance processes. Through regular training, collaboration with internal teams, and engagement with centres, the Standards Verifier helps uphold Pearson's commitment to high-quality, reliable assessment.

You are responsible for the provision of your own IT equipment and must therefore ensure it is capable of running Pearson required software, relevant malware, appropriate anti-virus software and a suitable internet connection. As well as this we require a Personal email address attached to a secure account. (This cannot be a work email)
Collaborate and communicate in a timely manner with Pearson.
**Role Specific Services and Expectations**
In addition to Pearson's core service expectations, this role requires the following specialised responsibilities:
Stay up to date with relevant qualification specifications and, where applicable, National Occupational Standards.
Provide expert advice, guidance, and support tailored to your subject area and in line with verification requirements.
Attend and complete all mandatory training and annual standardisation activities within required timelines.
Conduct centre visits as required for qualifications involving visiting verification, following guidance from the Assessment team and subject to approval.
Adhere to Pearson's quality assurance processes and follow prescribed sampling strategies for allocated qualifications.
Review learner work and internal verification records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Ensure assessment decisions are valid, consistent, and aligned with national standards.
Provide constructive feedback and support to centres during the sampling process.
Produce comprehensive and actionable sampling reports for each centre visited.
Clearly communicate when standards are not met and outline the necessary corrective actions.
Assist centres in addressing issues, implementing improvements, and maintaining ongoing compliance.
Identify and recommend suitable learner work or assessment materials for use in future training and standardisation events.
Maintain regular communication with your Pearson supervisor and work collaboratively with internal teams.
This role requires a proactive approach to quality assurance and a commitment to maintaining Pearson's high standards across all responsibilities.
**Experience and Qualifications required:**
**Experience:**
As a representative of the company, you will be expected to have experience in, or be able to demonstrate the ability of the following:
Strong background in quality assurance and assessment practices.
Experience in verifying regulated qualifications.
Exceptional communication skills.
Proven ability to deliver and coordinate training sessions, including standardisation and other standards-focused activities.
In-depth knowledge of specifications relevant to your specialist sector, encompassing both internal.
Examples of previous leadership or support roles in essential quality assurance activities.
**Qualifications:**

**Vocational Qualifications (eg. BTEC)**
A minimum of one full academic year of teaching experience in the relevant subject area/sector within the last 8 years and/or extensive knowledge and experience in Pearson assessment, quality and processes and national standards within the last 5 years

Hold a relevant qualification in the subject area/sector.
A UK recognised teaching qualification

**External Examiner (EE)**
**BTEC Higher Nationals**
**Purpose of this Role**
Affirm national standards have been achieved and upheld
Monitor through external examiner sampling and visit activities, centres' compliance with Pearson quality assurance expectations for RQF BTEC Higher National programmes
Support centres during the sampling process
Support centres in the delivery of BTEC Higher National programmes to national standards.
**Key Accountabilities**
Covering a defined range of programmes within a sector, the External Examiner (EE) will:
Undertake sampling of assessed student work within defined parameters and rules to establish that centres are assessing learning outcomes in accordance with Pearson standards for its Higher National qualifications
Provide sampling-related support and development to centres
Produce reports for centres and Pearson on the sampling undertaken, outcomes reached, and support provided
Apply appropriate sanctions in consultation with the team leader where it is deemed assessment outcomes are not consistent with the published national standards being met
Produce targeted actions for centres to assist with remedial actions where national standards are not being upheld
Support centres to understand and implement identified actions
Facilitate the Senior External Examiner (SEE) in sourcing materials for training and standardisation
Report back to Pearson and centres following EE activity within agreed service-level agreements
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the work of Technical and Professional Assessment in relation to this role
**Previous Experience:** **Essential:**
Significant experience in delivering and assessing BTEC Higher National qualifications in the subject area
Hold a qualification at least at Level 6 and a full and relevant competence qualification for working in the sector
Participation annually in online training and standardisation and successful completion of the set standardisation activity
**Desirable:**
Evidence of recent Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in the sector
A willingness to use technology-based approaches to communication and centre support
**Skills and Knowledge** **Essential:**
Excellent communication, written, verbal, IT and interpersonal skills
Good working knowledge of the specifications that comprise the area of expertise for the role

I’m currently working for a well-established tech consultancy business of over 70 years who are based in Central London and looking for a Senior Software Developer , paying up to £9 000 and requiring office working of twice a week.


The company is a serial award-winner and provide consultative bespoke tech services to industries such as healthcare, insurance, pensions, energy & sport across the UK and beyond.


They are a growing development team of roughly 20 in total size, split across their 3 offices and in-role you will be working on the continued development of one of their key platforms. You will mainly work on the backend with C# (and ideally Python), developing new features in an Agile environment while also working extensively with Azure.


You’ll work collaboratively with different teams across the business and also get the platform to progress and take more responsibility within the business – something they really encourage across their tech teams!


The office is based in Central London, and they are looking for office working of 2 days a week!


Technical Requirements:

  • Strong C#/.Net experience – they use .Net 8 on this project.
  • Ideally have worked with Python which is used across the business.
  • Good understanding of the Azure toolset – Functions, Services, SQL, SaaS.
  • Other technologies include ASP.NET, WebAPIs, Testing & CI/CD.
  • Good collaborations skills and ability to communicate amongst different teams.
  • Happy working in an environment where you have autonomy and control over your day.
  • Keen desire to learn new technologies and progress within the business.
