Job Description
Azure Cloud Architect | Azure Landing Zones, Terraform, Kubernetes | Greenfield Banking Platform
- £600–700 per day (Outside IR35)
- Initial 5-month contract (extensions likely)
- Hybrid: London (2 days/week on-site)
The Role
You’ll join a small, high-impact engineering team building a greenfield, enterprise-scale Azure platform for a new US banking venture. As the Azure Cloud Architect , you’ll define and connect the architectural components of the platform, ensuring every delivery stream aligns to a single, secure-by-design architecture.
You’ll be embedded directly within delivery streams, collaborating with engineers, security specialists, and business stakeholders to shape how the bank’s core cloud capabilities are designed, built, and evolved. This is a hands-on architecture role — not ivory-tower, where you’ll work side by side with delivery teams to turn design intent into deployed reality.
What They’re Looking For (Non-Negotiables)
- 5+ years of Azure Cloud Architecture experience in enterprise-scale environments
- Deep understanding of Azure CAF enterprise-scale landing zones
- Proven delivery in regulated industries (finance, banking, healthcare, or government)
- Strong expertise in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code patterns
- Experience designing and governing secure-by-design environments
- Knowledge of Azure networking, identity, and governance (hub-and-spoke topologies, Entra ID, RBAC, Azure Policy, etc.)
- Collaborative, delivery-embedded approach - comfortable working daily within Kanban-based teams
What You’ll Work With
- Azure Cloud (CAF, Enterprise Scale, Microsoft accelerators)
- Terraform for provisioning, automation, and reusable module design
- Kubernetes and container services for orchestration
- GitHub for CI/CD pipelines and workflow automation
- Azure security and governance tooling: Key Vault, Policy, Defender, Sentinel
- Microsoft ecosystem integration : M365, D365, Power Platform, SaaS services
- Event-driven architecture and API management patterns
Nice to Haves
- Microsoft Azure Architect Expert (AZ-305) certification
- Experience with Azure APIM , Logic Apps , and Event Grid
- Knowledge of FinOps , ISO 27001 , or NIST security frameworks
- Exposure to multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP)
- Familiarity with Kanban delivery , architecture decision records (ADRs) , and collaborative design facilitation
Why Join / Projects
This isn’t just about cloud enablement - it’s about defining how a bank runs in the cloud.
You’ll help build a bank-grade Azure platform from the ground up, introducing secure patterns, reusable architectures, and integrated capabilities that serve as the foundation for all future business lines.
Expect a fast-paced environment where clarity, coherence, and collaboration matter as much as technical depth. You’ll have a tangible impact on platform quality, engineering culture, and architectural integrity, shaping one of the most significant financial cloud initiatives in the market right now.
Employee Benefits
- Outside IR35 day rate (£600–700 depending on experience)
- Hybrid working – London (1–2 days per week) or remote
- 5-month initial contract with long-term extension potential
- Greenfield, high-impact project with genuine technical ownership
