Our client, a distinguished biopharmaceutical company, is seeking a Senior Pharmaceutical Development Scientist specializing in Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) development. This is a fully remote position, offering significant flexibility. You will be instrumental in the early-stage development and characterization of novel APIs, driving projects from discovery through to preclinical stages. Responsibilities include designing and executing laboratory experiments for API synthesis, purification, and formulation. You will perform detailed analytical characterization of APIs, utilizing techniques such as HPLC, GC, MS, NMR, and XRPD. A key aspect of this role involves troubleshooting synthesis routes, optimizing chemical processes for scalability, and ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other relevant regulatory guidelines. The Senior Pharmaceutical Development Scientist will work collaboratively with medicinal chemists, analytical scientists, and CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls) teams to advance drug candidates. You will also be involved in the preparation of regulatory documentation, including IND (Investigational New Drug) filings. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. or Master's degree in Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely related field, with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience in API development. Proven expertise in synthetic organic chemistry and a strong understanding of physical and chemical characterization techniques are essential. Familiarity with process development and scale-up principles is highly desirable. Excellent scientific acumen, problem-solving abilities, and strong written and verbal communication skills are required to effectively present data and contribute to project strategy.
