Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer- Mechanical Process Planner

Salary: £ 41,361 + depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

• Processing the bill of material

• Maintaining design and engineering configuration control

• Identification of tooling and digital manufacturing process requirements

• Providing shop floor support to the manufacturing teams

• Applying and supporting component condition of supply requirements in line with the HS&E requirements and regulations

• Embodying engineering and design changes

• Identifying product quality and cost saving opportunities

• Applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

Your skills and experiences:

• Experience in Mechanical Process Planning in one or more of areas of Assembly, Carbon Fibre Composites and Machining components

• HNC or higher level or recognised apprenticeship and experience of working as a Mechanical Process Planner in assembly and detail manufacturing

• Knowledge and experience of Manufacturing processes and manufacturing experience in the aerospace (or equivalent standard) industry

• Engineering Toolset knowledge, CATIA V5, Siemens OpsCenter, PLM (or equivalent Product Data Manager), SAP CAMS or SFM (Shop Floor Manager), CDP and VAS

• Ability to manage unplanned events and work to tight deadlines

• Ability to manage projects to cost and schedule

The Process Planning Team:

You’ll be joining our dedicated Process Planning team, which plays a vital role in bridging the gap between design and manufacture. Supporting a wide range of current and future projects, the team is responsible for developing safe, logical, and cost-effective manufacturing plans for both detailed components and complex advanced assembly build structures.

As a Mechanical Process Planning Engineer, you’ll work closely with design engineers, manufacturing teams, production planners, and quality specialists to ensure that every plan is both practical and aligned with business objectives. Your work will directly influence the efficiency, safety, and success of our build processes. This is a collaborative and solutions-focused environment where your technical expertise will help drive manufacturing excellence across the organisation.

• RepU Project - Reprocessed uranium (RepU) in the UK refers to uranium recovered from spent nuclear fuel, primarily at the Sellafield reprocessing plant
• TMF Project - The UK Tails Management Facility (TMF) is a facility in Capenhurst, Chester operated by Urenco ChemPlants Limited. It processes depleted uranium hexafluoride, also known as "tails," from Urenco's European enrichment facilities
• The FED Project - Assess the potential for domestic manufacturing to support the construction of novel small pebble-bed nuclear reactors
• The BEP Project - The "Box Encapsulation Plant (BEP) project" at Sellafield, focuses on managing and storing Magnox reactor waste
• The MSSS Project - Magnox Swarf Storage Silo (MSSS) is the most hazardous building on the Sellafield site, so the work of removing the waste and putting it into modern, safe containment packages is a top priority

Overtime and work away allowances are paid for all overnight stays.

Monday to Friday: 8am to 5pm

45k Basic plus overtime at 1.5 time
OPTIONAL - 1 week working away in every 5
4 nights all accommodation and travel covered paid at 70 for every night away

* Experience in Hydraulics, Pneumatics, 12 and 24volt electrics is advantageous.
* Experience of working in heavy or industrial engineering is preferred.
* Hold a full UK driving Licence.
