Are you interested in a career in the aviation sector? Optime are looking for Security Officers to join a prestigious client at Birmingham Airport. This role is open to applicants who have no previous security experience and a genuine interest in aviation, customer service and security.
All necessary training will be fully paid and provided by sector experts including support in obtaining relevant background checks. There is on-site mentoring and clear career pathways leading to specialist management roles within our team, so think big!
Start Date:

What’s on offer:
- £12.64 per hour
- Location: Birmingham Airport
- Full Time Position - You must be able to do 40+ hours per week.
- Shift times: This is a 24-hour operation, so you will be asked to do both day and night shifts! These will be 12 hour shifts.
- You must be available to complete 4 weeks of training from above start date (the training is paid for the 4 weeks)

What you’ll be doing:
- To control access into restricted areas of the Airport including: Checking security ID, and physical searches: Body, bags, and vehicles to a minimum of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) standards of all persons and articles carried, requiring access through the Security Checkpoints.
- To carry out x ray duties of all items entering the restricted area.
- respond to emergency incidents following the agreed procedures.
- To carry out escort duties, including special events when required.
- To undertake foot patrols of operational areas and designated routes.
- To maintain a log of all incidents and provide written and verbal reports to the Security Managers and Security Supervision.
- To be compliant with Aviation Security’s local operating procedures, working practices, and protocols.
- To undertake Mandatory Training as stipulated by the company, in compliance with CAA standards.
- To meet compliance and throughput targets as stipulated by the DfT, CAA, and the Security Management Team.
- To participate in a culture of continual improvement by fully participating in the success of the business and own self-development.
- To utilize equipment only as trained in how to do so.
- To achieve an acceptable level of competence which is continuously measured through relevant performance evaluation means.
- To consistently demonstrate the positive behaviors required to support the Company's Brand Values.
The ideal candidate:
- Can you pass a color vision test?
- Have been in the UK for 3 years?
- Must have a 5-year checkable history Are you smart in appearance?
- Do you have good Verbal and written communication skills?
- Do you have the ability to work on your own initiative and also within a team?
- Do you possess basic computer skills to operate certain equipment?
- Do you have the ability to communicate with people at all levels including outside agencies and authorities?
Please note: As this is an airport role, successful candidates must pass security checks in-line with CAA regulations. These checks include 5-year work and address history, DBS (must have no disqualifying criminal convictions), valid Right to Work.

What’s on offer:
- Pay Rate: £12.21 per hour to £2.71 per hour (nights)
- 06:00am to 00:00am - Rate of pay 2.21 per hour.
- 00:00pm to 06:00am - Rate of pay 2.71 per hour.
- Day Shift Timing: Between 06:00am and 22:30pm - 9 hour shift with 30-minute unpaid break.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the airport terminal and office cleaning.
- Ensuring that all public areas, restrooms, waiting lounges, and other designated spaces are clean, well-organised, and presentable to enhance the overall passenger experience.
- Building knowledge of the designated cleaning areas, ensuring all equipment and chemicals are used in line with Health & Safety requirements.
- Litter picking of external areas, including car parks.
- Using hand gritters to grit pathways.
- Jet washing, gum removal.
- Full training and uniform provided.
- Documenting routine inspections.
- Working as part of a team.
- Adhering to airport security processes.
Day Shift Example Rota:
- Day 1 - 06:00am to 15:00pm
- Day 2 - 06:00am to 15:00pm
- Day 3 - 13:30pm to 22:30pm
- Day 4 - 13:30pm to 22:30pm
- 2 x DAYS OFF

What you’ll need:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Cleaning Experience is preferred.
- A strong attention to detail, ensuring high cleaning standards are consistently met.
- Great work ethic.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Previous airport and/or cleaning experience would be beneficial.

As a car valeter you’ll be the face of Airparks and at the forefront of our new car cleaning service, working alongside the Meet and Greet parking operations team so the ability to think on your feet is essential. This is a busy and varied role where customer interaction and decision making are key so we are looking for professional and conscientious team members who can also deliver a fantastic customer experience.
Your duties will include cleaning vehicles inside and out, moving cars around the site, shuttling staff to and from the airport at busy periods so a full UK driving licence is required.
As one of our on-site staff, you will be an integral part of the Airparks team and your enthusiastic approach will help us continue to ensure that our customers have a hassle-free, friendly and efficient service.
