Job Description
Our client, a forward-thinking leader in the energy sector, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their remote team. This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of safety in chemical processing operations. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust process safety management systems and protocols across various energy facilities. This is a fully remote position, requiring a proactive and detail-oriented individual with extensive expertise in hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety engineering.

- Lead and execute Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
- Develop, implement, and manage Process Safety Management (PSM) programs aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements (e.g., HSE).
- Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and review safety critical procedures, operating manuals, and emergency response plans.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, performing root cause analysis and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide technical guidance and training on process safety principles to operational teams.
- Design and implement safety systems, including relief devices, interlocks, and emergency shutdown systems.
- Stay current with advancements in process safety technology and regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and management teams to integrate safety into all aspects of project lifecycles and operations.
- Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the energy, petrochemical, or chemical industries.
- In-depth knowledge of process safety standards, regulations, and methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA, SIL).
- Proven experience in conducting PHAs and developing risk reduction strategies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in process simulation software and risk assessment tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and work effectively in a remote team environment.
- Professional certifications such as CCPSC or equivalent are highly desirable.
- This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from any location within the UK. Our client values a strong commitment to safety and provides the necessary tools and support for a successful remote working experience. Occasional travel to operational sites may be required.
