Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop robust and scalable EV charging infrastructure solutions, including AC and DC fast charging systems.
- Oversee the planning, installation, and commissioning of charging stations, ensuring compliance with all safety and electrical codes.
- Collaborate with utility companies and grid operators to ensure seamless integration of charging infrastructure with the electricity grid.
- Develop technical specifications for charging hardware, software, and network management systems.
- Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments for potential charging locations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to charging equipment, software, and network connectivity.
- Manage relationships with equipment suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders involved in infrastructure deployment.

- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a significant focus on power systems, grid integration, or EV charging infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of AC/DC power conversion, power electronics, and battery management systems.
- Familiarity with various EV charging standards (e.g., CCS, CHAdeMO, Type 2) and communication protocols (e.g., OCPP).
- Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in electrical design software and simulation tools.

Role responsibilities
The purpose of the role is to deliver projects and advise and assist key stakeholders on project proposals to develop Electric Vehicle (EV) charging solutions in Wales.
- Support in the delivery of Transport for Wales (TfW) Electric Vehicle charging programme and wider Welsh Government policy by applying robust project lifecycle methodologies, reporting and appropriate governance to deliver such activities to time, cost and quality.
- Lead, develop and embed an evidenced-based data collection, analysis and insights operation within the Decarbonisation team by working with stakeholders to support data-led decision-making, and maximise existing and new data sets to clearly show the pace, scale and quality relating to EV infrastructure deployment across Wales.
- Deliver trusted insight to TfW, Welsh Government and stakeholders by using a range of tools and outputs, including dashboards and reports, in implementing related projects where appropriate.
- Provide information by developing and maintaining an annual data and insights plan to inform key decisions, budget setting and strategic priorities by TfW and partner organisations.
Who we're looking for
- Relevant degree such as Business, Engineering (or similar) or equivalent experience.
- Have a project management qualification such as APM or PRINCE2 or similar.
- Experience of managing high profile and/or complex projects through the whole lifecycle.
- Experience of managing a project budget, including forecasting and monitoring spend.
- Demonstrable experience of analysing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data to present findings and make strategic and tactical recommendations.
Welsh Language Skills
The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.

+ You'll be designing grid connections to private wire networks, solar farms, EV charger facilities, battery energy storage sites and low carbon energy centres.
+ You'll be supporting the Mechanical team with the design of electrical services for low-carbon energy centre and district energy schemes.
+ Your duties will also include:
+ Undertaking site surveys and quality audits.
+ Meeting with clients and contractors on a project basis under suitable guidance.
+ Producing engineering drawings, schedules, specifications and reports in accordance with WSP's project commitments.
+ Preparing feasibility studies.
+ Producing CDM risk assessments.
