About the role

This is a fixed-term, onsite position based in Portadown, Northern Ireland , running until the end of August 2026 , with the potential for extension.

The site specialises in the production of cheese blocks, sliced cheese, and grated cheese bags.

As a Quality Control Technician , you will support the technical team by conducting routine inspections, monitoring production processes, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. You’ll assist with audits, equipment calibrations, data reporting, and documentation management. The role also involves cross-functional collaboration to uphold site standards and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. 

Key responsibilities

As a Quality Control Technician, you will:

  • Play a key role in maintaining product integrity and food safety standards

  • Conduct routine inspections and monitor production processes

  • Support the technical team with problem-solving on the factory floor

  • Assist with equipment calibrations and preparation for external audits

  • Exposure to AS9102 standards and aerospace-grade components
  • Clean, well-organised manufacturing environment

As Quality Control Inspector, your responsibilities will include:

  • First off and stage inspection of detailed machined components
  • Creating and completing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) to AS9102
  • Batch inspection using manual techniques (micrometers, calipers, height gauges)
  • Goods received inspection of treated parts
  • Conducting patrol audits to monitor manufacturing processes
  • Calibration and control of measuring equipment

As Quality Control Inspector, your experience will include:

  • Interpreting detailed engineering drawings with geometric tolerances
  • Manual inspection of machined parts in a machine shop environment
  • Producing FAIRs to AS9102 standards
  • Strong understanding of machining practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Experience operating or running a CMM (desirable)
