On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit a Building & Construction Buyer

on an initial 13 -month contract. As the Building & Construction Buyer you will be performing strategic procurement activities within the Buildings UK team

Responsibilities

  • Implementing the procurement strategy defined by the Commodity Procurement
  • Management and the Projects Multi-Functional-Teams (MFT) within the scope of activity supporting Airbus divisions' needs.
  • Manage procurement projects and call for tenders with multi-divisional scope within the scope of the Building & Construction Team and international scope on demand, including within Building sub-commodity PJRB.
  • Develop and maintain an efficient supply chain capable of delivering goods/services, matching Airbus requirements and business objectives.
  • Ensure that deliverables are in line with the contractual terms (cost, time, quality).
  • Secure long-term alignment of the preferred supplier base with the long-term trans-divisional strategic needs of Airbus.
  • Ensure continuous commercial relationship with suppliers to secure work with best-in-class suppliers and protect Airbus from contractual risks.
  • Conduct the procurement process to fulfil business needs and provide the internal customers with valued services in compliance with the Airbus General Procurement procedures and guidelines, to full customers satisfaction.
  • Deliver on initiatives contributing to Airbus Savings Programmes using the levers of requirements harmonisation/standardization, challenge of the specifications, volume aggregation, and control of the demand.

Essential Skills

  • Strong understanding of strategic sourcing and procurement lifecycle.
  • Expertise in running tenders (RFPs/RFQs) and supplier selection.
  • Ability to negotiate, establish, and manage frame contracts at both national and international levels.
  • Skills in supplier evaluation and development (performance, cost, quality, delivery).
  • Experience in supplier risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Proven capability in leading cross-functional and multi-divisional teams.
  • Strong project management skills to drive procurement initiatives end-to-end.
  • Stakeholder engagement skills to align internal customers' needs with procurement strategies.
  • Ability to influence and challenge specifications to achieve cost and efficiency savings.

We are looking for a Head of Buildings & Construction to join our site at Belfast, where you will use strong stakeholder management skills to govern partner relationships and customer expectations, providing leadership for the Belfast Buildings & Construction team and portfolio delivery.

You will lead a portfolio of Building & Construction projects requested by Facilities Management and Real Estate, and the business to achieve our operational, sustainability, and workplace of the future objectives.

This is an opportunity to refine and develop our existing facilities with new buildings and facilities to suit our business needs and our increase in production.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM

  • Allocate resources to projects, including prioritisation where required, in line with business and compliance requirements.
  • Establish and deliver resource planning to meet the required workload based on expected project portfolio.
  • Develop team competency, execute recruitment, temporary contract extensions or terminations as necessary,
  • Ensure the projects are delivered in compliance with AIRBUS procedures and the relevant regulations in particular Health and Safety
  • Ensure that expenditure is in line with the budget and that resources are utilised efficiently to ensure cost control
  • Manage risks and opportunities, and implement mitigation plans as necessary
  • Establish and deliver communication plans to FMRE and business stakeholders incl. ensure appropriate project governance and Senior Steering Committees where necessary
  • Contribution to the site master planning
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, the business / project requestors and authorities
  • Contribute to national and transnational process improvements / transformation

ABOUT YOU

  • BSc / HND in Construction / Building Services (or similar), or equivalent experience
  • Project management experience within the construction industry is essential
  • Experience ideally in client side project management
  • Experience of working on an NEC project preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety, NEBOSH an advantage
  • Leadership experience and team player attitude to contribute to the overall department objectives
