Digital Surgery creates products to allow surgical teams to securely record and analyze their performance. As a Senior or Principal Embedded Video Engineer in the Devices team, you'll be helping expand the feature-set of our existing devices while ensuring the codebase is maintainable, allowing us to continue to deliver the next generation of surgical technology. We're looking for an approachable personality who can reach across disciplines to deliver value.
**Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:**
+ Work within our highly technically diverse multidisciplinary teams (application software, embedded, FPGA, computer vision, cloud platform, etc.)
+ Support the development and productization of our custom computing devices, medical devices, and other devices for the hospital operating rooms.
+ Drive collaboration with our hardware team to build and maintain compatible kernels/drivers for our hardware platforms.
+ Architect, develop, test, and debug system services and hardware-dependent software applications.
+ Coordinate and conduct code reviews for embedded software.
+ Contribute to the software infrastructure to ensure seamless software deployments.
+ Participate in the relevant security and regulatory compliance processes.
+ Develop robust and secure-by-design software fit for a medical-grade system.
+ Perform formal risk analysis activities, develop software mitigations, run verification. tests and participate in design transfer to manufacturing activities.
**Required Knowledge and Experience:**
+ BS/MS in Computer, Electrical, Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
+ Deep understanding of at least one of the following video standards: HDMI, SDI, DP.
+ Video processing/streaming experience, working with camera sensors, codecs and streaming protocols.
+ Extensive experience working with Linux and RTOS device drivers.
+ Expert C/C++ and shell scripting knowledge.
+ Experience in system bring-up and hardware integration.
+ Fundamental knowledge of Linux diagnostic/benchmarking tool
+ Experience with software systems engineering and design principles.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Flexible - you can independently solve problems as they arise but are comfortable asking for help when you need it.
+ Comfortable with complexity - being able to think through consequences of changes in a highly interconnected ecosystem over varied use environments.
Experience with embedded graphics technologies and a strong understanding of the Xilinx toolchain and FPGA development. Familiarity with NVIDIA computing platforms and microcontroller development is highly desirable. Experience in automated testing, along with hands-on knowledge of regulatory standards such as FDA requirements and ISO/IEC guidelines, including ISO 13485, IEC 62304, and ISO 14971, is preferred. Additionally, background in software development for medical devices or other safety-critical applications is a strong asset.

Key job responsibilities

A day in the life
A typical day in the Amazon Video Operations Center (AVOC) begins with prepping and testing incoming feeds for live events that day - Events such as; Premier League football, Rugby, Music Concerts and much more!
During the event(s), playback is continuously monitored using automated alerts along with more traditional forms of broadcast monitoring! Should an issue arise Amazon has a highly skilled global team of engineers and developers whom our support engineers work with to quickly mitigate and resolve any issues, to prevent disruption to customers.
Post event, support engineers collate any relevant data points and communicate these out to stakeholders.
About the team
Our primary goal is to deliver a stellar viewing experience for our customers by broadcasting 'disruption-free' live events. When issues arise, we bias on the side of mitigation so that the customer experience can be restored quickly. These are live events.and speed matters!
In addition to executing live events on a daily basis, we also keep an eye on the future.
Execution - We are always looking ahead five quarters to ensure we have trained teams ready to operate all committed events. We regularly review our operations to identify opportunities to improve operator efficiency and performance.
Scale - Our vision involves transitioning to a "manage-by-exception" model which will increase capacity and operational excellence. We will rely on automation to reduce the number of manual tasks. Human intervention will only be required to address anomalies that cannot automatically be addressed.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
- Experience in development or technical support
- knowledge of common streaming protocols and live OTT video delivery
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development

Broadcast Technology Project Manager - Post Production Broadcast Technology
Outside IR35 TBC Approx 500-550pd
3-6 months (ideally 4 days a week M-T)
Hybrid Working Typically 1-2 days a week in West London
Immediate Start

Project manager with relevant Broadcast Sector experience with Post Production Workflow and / Post Production Technology experience/Knowledge. This is an Urgent fast paced project requiring someone to start at short notice (immediate start or within 1-2 Weeks notice). It is a technology and change project which will involve moving key post production and data workflows to a new system in a short period of time. The right person will need the ability to get up to speed quickly and work confidently with people to get decisions made while maintaining good relationships with Engineering, Creative teams and current and target Post Production Vendors/suppliers.

Broadcast Media Client based in West London - looking for someone nearly full time (ideally 4 days a week) in the first phase of the project which will be for approximately 3 months, then reducing to part time for the remainder of the project, a further 3 months (approx 2 days a week).

The person
* Experienced at project management and change management within the broadcast media / post production sector (Delivering media Technology projects along with managing/preparing for the resulting change)
* Strong Project Manager with some Business Analysis skills to be able to gather information and document clearly (This is not a BA role - Project management and Change Management is most important)
* Good experience of post production, creative flows, MAM workflows and data,
* Good Experience of working with Creative and Technology teams
* Can work at pace and get up to speed quickly with the teams and the technology
* Can manage a project team and work with a 3rd party vendor
* Can work in detail and give senior stakeholders clear status reports and information to make decisions
* Can work in West London office approx 1-2 days a week and attend meetings in person

Although we are looking for someone to drive this project forward and be really on it, we need someone with great communication skills and collaboration skills who can keep work well with the small technology Engineering teams, new vendor, and help the Creative teams make a comfortable operational transition to the new post production technology and workflows.
