Project Quantity Surveyor London Specialist sub-contractor Up to £55,000 A leading specialist subcontractor with a reputation built on their expertise and ability to deliver high-quality packages on a wide range of projects are seeking a capable Project Quantity Surveyor with JCT and NEC contract experience to manage 3 or 4 small scale fire stopping packages on airport related projects predominantly at Heathrow. Established for over 15 years with an annual turnover reaching more than £25m in the UK, they have continuing to expand. Ideally you will be ready to run 1 larger project or manage smaller ones base diwthin the airport environment, with total control over the commercial aspects. As a Project Quantity Surveyor, you will be reporting directly to the Commercial Manager to ensure successful financial delivery of various fire stopping projects. Therefore, your day to day responsibilities will vary from but are not limited to: Updating cost plans Measurements Providing written quotations Negotiating final accounts Meeting clients and Subcontractors Applications for payments Investigate, notify, and substantiate variations Must have NEC contract experience This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist contractor offering an opportunity to develop, grow and progress organically within the company. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years' experience, in the construction industry, preferably with a facade, curtain walling or roofing subcontractor. Those who have gained experienced working with main contractors or other subcontractors will be considered if they have demonstrated the ability to perform exceptionally well. Candidates must be highly motivated, resilient, and determined to 'get things right' to be successful. HND Qualification/Degree in Quantity Surveying is desirable, however, not critical. What will you be responsible for?

Your day to day will include:

  • Line management of Building Surveying staff, either as direct or indirect reports as dictated by the number of staff and the organisational structure, allocating staff workload and managing their achievement of target billable utilisation levels whilst personally delivering building surveying services for more complex and/or high profile commissions
  • Project managing the delivery of building surveying services to internal or external clients both in terms of service delivery to the client and the internal management of Kier's commission
  • Undertaking business development, including the maintenance and development of positive relationships with existing internal and external clients, account management when building surveying is the key supplier, identifying potential new clients and winning work
  • Managing the commercially sustainable growth of the Building Surveying team, including working with our recruitment team to bring in suitable new staff

What are we looking for?

This role of Building Surveying Lead is great for you if:

  • You hold full membership of RICS, as a Building Surveyor, and Chartered Surveyor or full membership of an equivalent professional body and Chartered status that is demonstrably relevant to building surveying, plus a full driving licence, and can demonstrate effective leadership, motivation, influencing and communication skills alongside expertise in the field of building surveying with experience as a building surveying practitioner covering a wide range of building types and sectors – ideally with experience drawn from both the public and private sectors
  • Have strong contract administration skills, with experience of JCT and NEC forms of contract, good project management skills, commercial awareness, knowledge and experience of procurement processes, especially within the public sector, and are competent in the use of NBS Chorus and AutoCAD software
  • Bring personal energy and ambition and want the opportunity to lead a team of building surveyors whilst driving the development and growth of that team
